    This position supports the Assistant Dean of Academic Success and Bar Preparation Services in delivering a comprehensive , student-centered program that spans from admission through bar licensure . This position develop s , refine s , and administer s non-curricular programming designed to support students’ academic development and bar exam readiness . In addition to provid ing individualized support to students , the Director will help manage the increasing demands of the department as the law school grows . Working in close collaborat ion with the Assistant Dean, the Director will contribute to the design and implementation of effective, data-informed academic success and bar preparation initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring complimentary expertise i n the Uniform Bar Examination and a forward-looking perspective to support the school’s transition to the NextGen bar exam.

    Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities : Employment duties include, but are not limited to :

    + Collaborate with the Assistant Dean and other department members to deliver comprehensive, evidence-based programming grounded in learning theory and best practices in pe dagogy, tailored to support the academic needs of students and graduates preparing for the bar exam.

    + Lead and enhance , in conjunction with the Assistant Dean, the Essentials for Law School Success workshop series, ensuring its content is align ed with Academic Success and Bar Preparation skills enhancement courses, and responsive to the demands of the NextGen bar exam .

    + Develop and deliver supplemental b ar p reparation workshops in collaboration with the Assistant Dean , with an initial f ocus on MBE strategies but with a phased shift toward the skills-based, Next Gen bar exam, and any future bar exam reforms .

    + Design and implement structured programming to support bar retakers, with emphasis on those who have not passed a bar examination within two years of graduation , including individualized coaching , data-informed strategies , while also facilitat ing access to and coordination of targeted resources .

    + Assist in the daily operation of the department, including meeting with students , supervising and providing guidance and support to assistant directors and administrative support staff.

    + Engage in data collection and analysis, drafting comprehensive internal and external reports, and developing data-driven mechanisms for evaluating the success of students and program goals.

    + Stay well-informed about changes and trends in legal education , the bar exam, and bar admission .

    + Administer all aspects of the Bar Study Grant prog ram, including managing the application process, coordinating with the committee, overseeing logistical and financial mechanics, issuing notifications , responding to inquiries, and ensuring timely and accurate administration of program components.

    + Support the effective implementation of the commercial bar agreement , maximizing its institutional value and enhancing the benefits for students .

    + Maintain a collaborative work environment and work well with others .

    + Represent the law school at and participate in conferences and other events organized for and/or by academic support professionals .

    + Perform other duties as assigned .

    Required Skills

    + Strong verbal and written communication skills .

    + Ability to maintain confidentiality pursuant to FERPA and other regulations.

    + E stablish and maintain positive working relationships within the department and the College of Law.

     

    Work Environment: Work duties performed primarily in temperature-controlled office , with frequent customer interaction . Lifting occasionally up to 3 0 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

    Required Experience

    + JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

    + Member in good standing with the Bar.

    + Supervisory experience.

    + Experience with assessment, including data collection and analysis.

    + Experience in academic advising, tutoring, or with academic support and bar exam preparation.

    + High level of organization, flexibility, sound judgment, and interpersonal skills.

    + Legal practice experience.

    + Flexibility to work outside the regular assigned schedule when requested .

    + Teaching experience preferred.

    + Experience with curriculum design, including an understanding of educational learning theory, best practices in teaching pedagogy, and learning styles preferred .
