Job Overview:

B&H is looking for an experienced Applications Development Manager leader to join our development team.

We are seeking a technical lead to own and direct development and support of our Unix/4GL custom legacy

applications, managing onsite & offshore software engineering teams.

Essential Responsibilities:

+ Directly manages a group of applications and developers under the responsibility of this team who design, develop, and support 4GL applications on various technology stacks/platforms including but not limited to Informix/4gl, Shell Scripting, C, Perl, Python, and Integration etc. Also be responsible for any technology responsibility that this team may take on in the future.

+ Own all technological aspects of all applications this team is responsible for, which includes but is not limited to strategic design, application architecture, security design, documentation, performance, scalability, usability, and production uptime.

+ Evaluate projects, provide timelines, manage development team to develop within coding standards, within timeline, within budget, and update schedules.

+ Collaborate effectively with all team members, locally and offshore and make sure teams work together effectively. Work with various roles within the company including but not limited to business sponsors, business SMEs, business analysts, application liaisons, various technology teams and architects, testers, and operations staff.

+ Bring creativity, ambition, fire, and out-of-box thinking to provide business with technology solutions. Help business build roadmaps that can be worked on.

+ Guide, coach, and mentor software development engineers. Manage and oversee daily, activity of offshore team to make sure times lines are met.

+ Work with the testing team to ensure solutions provided to business are free from defects, and testing is conducted more wholistically utilizing automation to reduce time taken.

+ Establish and stimulate software development standards and processes along with best practices for delivery of scalable and high-quality software. Advise and direct onshore/offshore developers to make sure the follow coding/design standards. Perform code reviews for all developers including all offshore developers and/or implement automated code scanning and vulnerability managing technologies.

+ Constantly work on improvements to bring more efficiency to the coding process, providing faster delivery to the business as close as being defect-free as possible. This includes but not limited to devops, proactive monitoring etc.

Preferred Education, Experience and Certifications:

+ BS or MS in Computer Science or related technical field

+ Significant experience architecting and managing complex applications.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

+ Technically excellent across all software disciplines, including algorithms, data structures, architecture, and design.

+ Experience with following/managing project lifecycle inclusive of research, development, design, evaluation, testing along with delivery to product management.

+ 3+ years of managing direct reports or functioning in a team leadership role, including management of remote/offshore teams.

+ 5+ years hands-on engineering experience, in development and infrastructure.

+ Experience with Informix Database or 4GL application development is a huge plus.

+ Experience with custom legacy application development is a huge plus.

+ Experience with Unix server administration plus.

+ Hands on experience with APIs and web services.

+ Hands on experience in relational-database technologies like, MySQL, Oracle, Informix include creation of complex SQL, triggers, and stored procedures.

+ Ability to learn and understand new technologies and products quickly.
