Description

We are looking for a skilled Systems Administrator to manage and optimize our client’s network and server infrastructure in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This position requires expertise in on-premise Windows Server environments, ensuring seamless operations, upgrades, patching, maintenance and support. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in maintaining system reliability, driving innovation, and guiding less experienced team members.

Responsibilities:

• Design, manage, and troubleshoot enterprise infrastructure, including Windows Servers and Active Directory.

• Administer on-premise systems using VMware, Azure, and other technologies.

• Deploy and maintain business-critical applications while ensuring lifecycle management.

• Monitor and improve security policies, respond to incidents, and enhance disaster recovery protocols.

• Manage physical access controls, network monitoring systems, and power equipment such as generators.

• Provide guidance to less experienced administrators, document system configurations, and handle advanced IT support escalations.

• Oversee unified communication systems and storage solutions to support organizational needs.

• Conduct regular assessments of system performance and recommend necessary upgrades or changes.

Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least 4 years of experience in system or network administration.

• Proficiency in VMware/VCenter, Cisco/Meraki, and managing Dell or HP server systems.

• Strong knowledge of Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and Google Workspace.

• Hands-on experience with firewalls, VPNs, and Layer 2/3 network protocols.

• Demonstrated ability to manage enterprise licensing, monitoring tools, and backup solutions.

• Familiarity with unified communication platforms and disaster recovery strategies.
