Position Summary:

Collects and processes surgical specimens. Prepares and embeds specimens with paraffin. Cuts blocks and performs H&E stains with coverslips. Performs immunohistochemical stains as requested and maintains immunostainer & reagents. Prepares solutions and special stains. Processes frozen sections with rapid H&E stains. Enters procedure charge codes. Follows safe practices with infectious and/or hazardous materials. Utilizes equipment, and supplies in the department appropriately.

Minimum Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in science related field; biology or life science

+ Preferred: Certified HIstotechnologist, HTL (ASCP)

Essential Job Functions:

+ Prepares and stains slide for Pathologist review.

+ Prepares tissues for embedding and staining.

+ Performs special & immunohistochemical staining procedures.

+ Prepares reagents and stains according to written procedures.

+ Leads, teaches, inspires, helps and consistently demonstrates hospital system behavioral standards.

+ Perform other duties as assigned.
