The Superior Court of Fulton County Georgia (“Court”) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Accountant II. The Court Accountant II must possess a solid knowledge of accounting and pays close attention to detail. The candidate shall provide first-class financial management and accounting services across Superior Court and Fulton County entities. The candidate must always display integrity and have a desire for professional growth.
Superior Court is Georgia's busiest trial court of general jurisdiction. The Court seeks to provide a forum in which legal disputes between citizens can be resolved in a fair and efficient process with attention to equal access, impartiality, efficiency, and safety. Position Overview:
Incumbent in this class performs process duties related to carrying out accounting duties requiring independent judgment, including reconciling accounts, monitoring account budget status, completing transactional and informational reports, and performing administrative duties **.**
Essential Duties:
+ Posts adjustment entries, reconciles accounts, and monitors budget status of accounts. Reconciles bank statements, balances activity statements, and researches dishonored checks. Interprets court documents and makes appropriate adjustments and entries.
+ Modifies and deletes data entry transactions as necessary and completes reports. Ensures budgets are being processed correctly and on time. Provides accounting and statistical information and input for decision-makers.
+ Prepares and completes various forms, reports, correspondence and other documentation. Compiles data for use in preparation of department reports.
+ Prepares monthly revenue reporting.
+ Designs and maintains analytical reports and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy accounting records. Assists with contracts administration procedures.
+ Researches information for customers and external auditors. Communicates with other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
+ Provides lead direction to accounting or financial support staff as required. Assists with training for employees.
+ Provides lead assistance in the absence of the Senior Accountant.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Requires knowledge of cash handling and banking procedures. Governmental Accounting Procedures (GAP). Budgeting processes and internal financial control procedures. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). General office practices, procedures, equipment, and technology.
Requires skill in using spreadsheet, database, word processing, presentation, and financial management software. Understanding, using, and explaining Court-specific computer applications to manage court processes, gather and analyze statistics, and create reports. Keyboarding and entering data. Organizing, filing, and recordkeeping. Applying accounting procedures and principles in carrying out a variety of accounting tasks. Analyzing information using spreadsheets. Recording, analyzing, verifying, reconciling, and reporting accounting transactions. Building sustainable working relationships with other County personnel, officials, and the public. Communicating effectively with coworkers, supervisor, and the public. Generating enthusiasm and support for program objectives.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required; and two or more years of experience performing accounting duties; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
