+ Board certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
+ Be in good standing with the Texas Medical Board and have an unrestricted license to practice.
+ Current DEA registration.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Direct patient care experience
+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support certificate
+ Experience using eClinical Works.
+ Clinical experience providing long-acting reversible contraception ( IUD insertion/removal and Nexplanon insertion/removal.)
+ Clinical experience managing women’s health conditions
+ Clinical experience managing mental health conditions including suicidal ideation
+ Experience supervising mid-level providers (nurse practitioners)
+ Experience serving as a clinical preceptor for healthcare professions students
Job Description
University Health Services is seeking a Board Certified Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Physician for the ambulatory health care facility serving college students on the San Marcos campus of Texas State University. Responsible for diagnosing and treating the medical illnesses and injuries of Texas State students including referrals, health maintenance, and education.
Job Duties
Provide medical care to eligible students, faculty and staff within the scope of family medicine or internal medicine. Document patient encounters in electronic health record. Supervise assigned nurse practitioners, be available for consultation and to provide clinical training for healthcare professions students. Must be able to perform common office medical procedures, such as suturing of lacerations, incision and drainage of abscesses, cryotherapy of warts and pap smears.
Additional Information to Applicants
This position is at the University Student Health Clinic 4 days a week (80% FTE ) or a 9-month schedule.
Clinic is open Monday/Wednesday-Friday 8-5, Tuesday 8-6. Working hours and schedule will be built with input from the selected hire.
