    The Hull Outfitting Production Engineer will help to resolve production and regulatory issues. They will interface with

    various parties, including production, planning, procurement, other engineering departments, design

    subcontractors, owner, classification society, and USCG to complete these activities. About 50% of the

     

    time will be in the field and 50% in the office.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each

    essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill,

     

    and/or ability required.

     

    • Ensure that all HPSI safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and met

    • Perform field engineering activities for hull outfitting systems, parts, equipment and machinery

    • Respond to issues by going onboard the vessel to investigate and document the issue. Interface

    with production supervisors or workers as appropriate

    • Create Design Change Notice packages for revised drawings or Corrective Action Notices to

     

    resolve issues. Create supporting drawings, sketches, or markups using Adobe, 2D or 3D CAD if

     

    necessary. Enter purchase requisitions as appropriate

     

    • Document material non-conformances or other issues with purchased material and equipment

    for feedback through the purchasing department or partner

    • Review and approve production installation drawings, manufacturing drawings, and bills of

     

    material. Check for accuracy against basic/detail design, yard and project standards, 3D model,

     

    previous vessels, and any known design changes. Identify any missing equipment or parts,

     

    interferences, production or regulation issues. Interface with other engineers or design partner

     

    for revision. Upload into document management and ERP systems

     

    • Create and distribute engineering Work Packages according to assigned schedule

    • Assist with development and implementation of owner change order requests

    • Communicate with class, USCG, FDA and any other required regulatory agency to resolve any

    regulatory or inspection issues raised during construction of the vessel

    • Assist with the startup and commissioning of hull outfitting equipment and systems. Participate

     

    in dock testing and possibly Sea Trials. Document any issue and revise procedures accordingly.

    Assist with resolution of technical issues as needed

    • Participate and provide input to build method planning process. Interface with Planning and

     

    Production teams to determine correct timing and discipline for installation of all

    accommodation and insulation parts and equipment

    • Participate in weekly “Prep Team” cross-functional meetings. Present installation drawings to

     

    meeting participants, discuss, review, and record any requested changes by Production or

    Planning

    • Create and maintain equipment Installation Procedures to explain complex installation

    processes

    • Maintain working knowledge and monitor development of classification and regulatory rules

    and requirements

    • Perform other related duties as required and assigned

    COMPETENCIES

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTY

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Naval architecture, or

     

    Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting or equivalent with 4 years’ experience in

    shipbuilding

    • Proficiency with MS Office and 2D CAD systems, such as AutoCAD

    • Proficiency with metric system

    • Some knowledge of shipboard deck equipment, cranes, hydraulic systems, and welded structures

    • Experience with using a 3D CAD system. Experience with Aveva PDMS, Aveva Marine, or Tribon is

    a plus

    • Experience with an ERP system, such as SAP is a plus

    • Knowledge/experience concerning modern shipbuilding practices is a plus

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    The Outfitting Production Engineer should expect to engage in regular field work in the shipyard's

     

    fabrication shops, dry docks, warehouse, and onboard vessels as part of the above activities.

    Environmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include

    noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes and smoke. Work may be carried on indoors or outdoors, and

     

    may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to

    successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A range of motion sufficient to perform general

    POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

    This is an on-site, full-time, salaried position. Monday through Friday with flexible start time.
