St. Vincent’s is the first hospital in Fairfield County to be integrated into the Hartford HealthCare network and is the system’s second-largest hospital. *Job Summary*: The Director of Major Gifts leads the strategy and execution of major gift fundraising efforts in partnership with the Vice President of Philanthropy and key system leaders. This role focuses on advancing the mission and goals of the philanthropy program by enhancing donor engagement and driving revenue growth. The Director is primarily responsible for identifying, cultivating, and securing major gifts to support SVMC and the Fairfield Region, while also overseeing a broad range of fundraising initiatives. *Responsibilities*: *1. **Fundraising and Portfolio Management* · Will independently perform identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gifts prospects of $10,000 to include 6-7 figure gifts · Build a portfolio of 100 prospects and strategically manage relationships to close major gift solicitations, annual giving and planned giving. · Responsible to lead initiative to grow the Grateful Patient Program and Planned Giving Program by overseeing the partnering efforts and success of Philanthropy with Medical Staff, encouraging and tracking Medical Staff efforts to identify and help introduce prospective donors of major gifts and by involving the President and CEO, the Vice President, Philanthropy and other Administration / Medical Staff leaders. · Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospects that align with the strategic needs and priorities of SVMC. · Proactively engage leadership to identify needs and priorities. · Cultivate relationships with Medical Staff, working alongside the VP to raise awareness on requesting funds. · Write gift proposals to high-net-worth individuals, corporations and foundations for multi-year pledges with specific requests for supporting strategic priorities & programs. *2. **Leadership & Strategic Initiatives* · Responsible for staff management; directly supervises and ensures the best success of the Associate Director of Corporate & Community Relations. Includes all goal setting and strategic planning, quarterly goals meetings, performance evaluations and coaching/mentoring. ** · In partnership with the VP, track and report fundraising progress in team meetings and as needed for leadership to ensure fundraising success. · Collaborate with staff to facilitate the identification and design of funding opportunities. · Develop annual and individual strategic plan including goals and objectives. *3. **Strategy & Planning* · Work closely with VP and leadership to help develop strategy for the foundations next fundraising campaign. · Collaborates with management on identification of fundraising goals. Develop and implement plans for capital and major fundraising activities. · Cultivate and build relationships with prospects (including high net worth individuals, philanthropic foundations and corporations) and make requests for major gifts. *4. *Perform other duties and special projects as assigned such as event support. *Education*: · Bachelor’s Degree. Master’s degree preferred. *Experience*: · Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, project management, or comparable fields. 7 to 10 years preferred. · 501c3 preferred. · Supervisory experience. · Raiser’s Edge preferred. *Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements * · Knowledge of fundraising principles, methods and standards. · Ability to support through example, H3W leadership behavior. · Ability to successfully raise significant charitable gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations. · Excellent interpersonal skills, and superb oral and written communication skills. · Must be an outstanding communicator and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal skills; and the ability to work collegially and interact effectively with a diverse constituency. · Proficiency in MS Office. · Fundraising software experience, Raiser’s Edge DB preferred.
