    **Summary** :

     

    The **Director of Quality and Risk Management** is responsible for the overall operation of the Quality Department and functions as the Patient Safety Officer. The Director is responsible for aligning performance improvement initiatives with the facility’s strategic goals, mission, vision and values. The Director also develops, implements and monitors standard processes and procedures to meet or exceed established clinical quality indicators, patient safety goals and desired operational efficiency. Demonstrates knowledge of federal, state and DNV standards and regulations affecting quality, patient safety and performance improvement. The Director also plans, implements and oversees the Risk Management Program including reporting, and ensures adherence to all risk management guidelines. The Director is responsible for budgeting and staffing the department.

     

    **Responsibilities** :

    1. Independently prepares and submits annual budgets consistent with management plan, addressing statistics, personnel, supplies, and other department costs; plans ad budgets for future capital needs; monitors budget monthly reporting significant variances

    2. Monitor individual performance of staff and completes and annual performance appraisals; maintains a positive employee relations climate

    3. Maintains sufficient staff to perform the duties and responsibilities of department; attends monthly department manager meetings; develops new and/or improves current programs; develops and implements performance improvement programs, utilizing the principles of performance improvement; ensures all department functions are in compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements; assesses and ensures staff competency

    4. Facilitates accreditation process across facility; assists in selection of suitable projects to provide linkage with facility goals; assist/develop facility and departmental scorecard metrics and targets

    5. Report all potential/actual claims in a timely fashion

    6. Conducts RCAs as needed

    7. Participates on committees and task forces as appropriate and facilitates quality improvement council

    Education Requirements:

    • Requires Bachelor's degree in health care or related field

    • Prefer Master's Degree

    Licensure/Certification Requirements:

    Professional Experience Requirements:

    • Requires five (5 ) years in healthcare experience as well as a minimum of one (1) year of management experience.

    • Prefer prior experience in performance improvement, risk management, and lean six sigma
