    Job Description

    Position Title: Aviation Management Teacher

     

    Salary Range: Teacher Contract pay

     

    Contract Length: School Year

     

    Immediate Supervisor: Building Principal, Director of Adult/Career and Technical Education

     

    Basic Function: This full-time position requires a certified teacher who will successfully develop and implement all aspects of an aviation management program for high school students.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    + Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and develops workplace attitudes.

    + Has working knowledge of the subject matter, classroom management techniques, and current researched best practices and strategies, and students’ learning styles and needs.

    + Update the curriculum to meet changing IN state standards and meet current NLPS requirements.

    + Establishes developmentally appropriate instructional and behavioral expectations for students and communicates those to students and their families.

    + Creates lessons and learning environments that are safe, respectful, and interesting, as well as multicultural, gender-fair, disability sensitive. Selects, adapts, and individualizes materials appropriate for diverse student populations and skills.

    + Teaches students the required curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning, and problem solving.

    + Manage the behavioral, social, and emotional issues of a diverse ethnic/racial student poulation.

    + Integrate academic standards for reading, writing and math skills into the curriculum.

    + Participates in ongoing and regular staff and individual professional development.

    + Demonstrate experience implementing innovative instructional programs.

    + Regularly assesses student learning by using multiple forms of assessment.

    + Collaborates with peers to develop, plan, and implement best practices based on the needs/abilities of the students.

    Qualifications

    + Must hold a valid Indiana vocational license in Trade and Industrial: Aviation Operations orMust be able to obtain, at a minimum, an Indiana Workplace Specialist I teacher license in aviation operations.

    + Must have at least 5000 hours (2.5 years) of relevant industry experience in the last 5 years.
