    This is presently a one (1) year position to provide support to the schools with staff Leave of Absences. Position may be re-evaluated for the 2026-2027 school year.

     

    At Helena Public schools, our vision is to foster dynamic educational experiences that prepare all students for life. As a School Psychologist , you contribute to this mission by evaluating pupils referred as potential candidates for a Special Education program and present a report to the local education authority on pupils he/she has evaluated. Test may include intelligence, achievement, personality, and perceptual motor test. You will work as part of a team that serves nearly 8,000 students at 18 campuses across Helena. Starting salary is $60,129.12 - $69,105.85. The tentative work period for this position is August 25, 2025 through June 9, 2026. Some of what you will do:

     

    + Conducts extensive psychological examinations of referred students.

    + Participates in case conferences when referred students are involved, or as requested.

    + Serves as a resource person concerning learning handicaps for other school personnel.

    + Interpret diagnoses to school personnel, other concerned professionals, parents and students.

    + Makes recommendations on ways to assist a student referred to him for examination.

     

    Who we are looking for: To become part of this dedicated team, you must possess a Masters' degree in school psychologist or equivalent; a valid School Psycholigist license through the Montana Office of Public Instruction (OPI) at the time of employment and at least one (1) year of successful experience as a school psychologist with direction from a fully approved school psychologist. The ideal candidate will possess Certification by National Registration Exam. Successful candidates will be frequently required to sit, walk, stand. Specific vision abilities required bu this postion is includes close vision. The noise level in the work environment is occassionalyquiet to moderate. The employee is frequently required to interact with the public and other staff.

    Additional Requirements:

    Holds a valid Montana driver’s license, proof of insurance and the ability to operate a motor vehicle. Track all district mileage on the approved travel reimbursement form and submit on the due date set by the business office and payroll office. Arrive at destinations on schedule and ensure that the vehicle is in working order. Employees will be required to provide proof of the following to Human Resources as a condition of employment.
