Summary This position is located at Pililaau Army Recreation Center in Waianae, Hawaii (Island of Oahu). Responsibilities Serves as lifeguard for a waterfront property and works under the direction of the Installation Program Manager and head lifeguard. Rescues swimmers and administers first aid as trained, and responds to medical emergencies throughout the property. Employs safety rules and rescue techniques for the protection of the waterfront guests. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety rules and procedures. Tactfully warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules and follows facility Standard Operating Procedures. Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training according to ATP 7-22.01 as of October 2020. Attends waterfront and/or safety training as directed. Assists in maintaining lifeguard tower and waterfront related equipment and supplies. Keeps area clean and free from any hazards. Maintains daily logs and records as required. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: 1. Must currently hold the following certifications: Waterfront Lifeguard Certification CPR/AED Certification Oxygen Administration Certification First Aid Certification 2. Must be willing to obtain First Responder Certification within six (6) months of hire date. 3. Preferred are those with waterfront experience in ocean rescue. PCS Costs Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest. Pay-Band (NF) Allowances and Differentials: This is a pay-banded position. Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600. Incentives and Bonuses: Incentives will not be paid. Non-foreign Overseas Allowances and Differentials Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA) and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
