Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a MATERIALS EXAMINER AND IDENTIFIER (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1908000 and is part of the NC USPFO, National Guard (USPFO-SSD / Manning Document 1622-749). Responsibilities As a MATERIALS EXAMINER AND IDENTIFIER, WG-6912-7, you will identify, receive, sort, count, classify and handle hazardous materials in the USPFO storage areas; ensure the safe receipt, storage and movement of hazardous and toxic materials and substances such as ammunition, explosives, chemicals, or radioactive materials; be responsible to identify, collect, process and consolidate hazardous waste in preparation for disposal; receive or reject materiel, equipment, including non-standard equipment, and complex assemblies for the facility; determine acceptance, serviceability and distribution requirements for perishable, classified, precious metals, textiles, clothing, complex electronic/mechanical equipment, assemblies and components; perform a full range of warehousing activities to include receiving, inspecting for defects, storing, selecting and shipping general or specialized bulk and bin materials and equipment; assist with the development of facility regulations, and operating instructions that relate to hazardous materials management and HAZMAT safety procedures; perform duties to provide storage and distribution, cataloging or supply identification systems, property utilization, or any other related supply; serve as the Precious Metals Recovery Program (PRMP) monitor; develop, establish and maintain work center training programs. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: Enlisted (E3-E7) Minimum Requirements: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to distinguish between closely related or similar items, ability to follow procedures, ability to sort materials by type, and skill in the use of hand tools. Specialized Experience: (Must have 12 months) of experience or training identifying and sorting a variety of complex materials and equipment. Experience receiving materials and equipment, recording, and placing items in proper storage areas. Experience preparing all items for shipment using appropriate agency instructions. Experience in mathematical equations. Experience interpreting and using Federal Supply Catalogs, military and manufacturing catalogs, and technical and agency manuals. Experience using and operating forklifts and motor vehicles.
