Summary of the position
The role of the CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) Programmer/Operator is pivotal in the production process, conducting consistent inspections on finished products and components, per drawings/specifications, to ensure products meet quality standards prior to distribution. As part of this position, individuals will perform CMM checks on product, gages and fixtures to ensure accuracy.
Responsibilities of the role
+ Create or edit programs for the coordinate measuring machine (CMM).
+ Utilize the programs to complete dimensional inspection using the coordinate measuring machine (CMM).
+ Conduct inspection by programming and completing the dimensional inspection of final assembly and component parts.
+ Analyze and troubleshoot setups and inspection paths.
+ Understand and utilize GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) to complete detailed part inspection.
+ Determine part inspection requirements from drawings.
+ Ensure the part inspection programs are consistent with part number and revision level.
+ First Article Inspection (FAI) of work order parts for correctness.
+ Perform inspections on incoming goods as required.
+ Support all Quality objectives.
+ Cross train on overlapping job functions.
+ Support all inspection processes to ensure high quality products.
+ Other duties as assigned by manager.
Qualifications/Knowledge needed
+ Strong proficiency reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
+ Strong proficiency interpreting GD&T standards highly desired.
+ Able to use quality inspection hand tools.
+ Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
+ High comfort level interfacing with staff and management while working in a fast-paced environment.
+ Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
+ Mechanical acumen to create fixtures and setups for inspections.
+ Strong computer skills.
Education
+ A minimum of a Technical Specialist Diploma or equivalent is required.
+ A Bachelor’s Degree or an Associate Degree is preferred.
+ Generally, requires (6-8) years related experience
