    Description of Work Unit

    This work unit exists to ensure that all individuals who represent CSU’s athletic programs comply with the rules and regulations set forth by Colorado State University, conference office, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association. The efforts of this work unit allow CSU to maintain the highest level of integrity both on and off the field by providing instruction and awareness of NCAA rules and regulations to coaches, administrators, student-athletes and prospective student athletes; ensuring compliance with these rules; monitoring activity such as recruiting, eligibility, financial aid, amateurism, playing and practice limitations; and investigating and reporting institutional, NCAA , or conference rules violations.

    Position Summary

    Under the general supervision of the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance, this position is responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of a comprehensive NCAA Division I- FBS athletics compliance program. Under the NCAA mandate of institutional control, each member institution must ensure its intercollegiate athletics program is in compliance with the rules and regulations of the association. This position reports to the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance. Under the mandates of University control, this unit reports directly to the University President.

    Required Job Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree

    + Minimum of one year of experience in NCAA compliance required

    + Comprehensive knowledge of NCAA rules, regulations, processes, interpretations, appeals and governance structure;

    + Experience with compliance-related software such as Teamworks and NCAA CA, LSDBi, and RSRO

    + Proven ability to relate well to coaches, student-athletes and other compliance constituency groups;

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

    + The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

    Preferred Job Qualifications

    + Master’s degree or equivalent

    + NCAA Division I- FBS experience

    + Experience in recruiting and camps and clinics

    + Proficient in Microsoft applications

    + Created rules education materials for coaches and athletics staff

    + Monitor and ensure compliance with NCAA , conference, and university rules for assigned sports programs.

    + Oversee eligibility certifications, recruiting activities, financial aid, and other compliance areas for designated teams.

    + Conduct regular audits and reviews to identify and address potential compliance issues.

    + Provide timely interpretations and guidance on NCAA rules to coaches and staff.

    + Assist in investigating potential rules violations for assigned sports.

    + Prepare reports and documentation for submission to the NCAA , conference, or university as required.

    + Serve as the department’s expert in specific NCAA bylaw areas (e.g., recruiting, eligibility) as designated by the Associate Athletic Director of Compliance.

    + Participate in the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures.

    + Ensure compliance with all departmental, University, conference and NCAA procedures, rules and regulations.

    + Perform additional tasks or duties as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance.
