Job Description
The Jacksonville Public Library is actively seeking a Manager for Youth Programming. This position reports to the Manager for Youth Learning and is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and managing the day-to-day operation of the youth programing department. The Manager for Youth Programming (MYP) leads a team of staff that delivers engaging, developmentally appropriate programming for children from birth to 17 years. The MYP ensures program quality and impact through staff supervision, ongoing training and coaching, and program evaluation.

Examples of Work
+ Oversees a team in the development and implementation of Library programs for youth ages 0-17, offered at all 21 Library locations and throughout the community.
+ Determines schedule and content of all youth programs, using data to make decisions about programs offered system wide.
+ Guides the creation and delivery of programs for children and teens.
+ Ensures programming aligns with community needs and Library goals.
+ Regularly evaluates programming success and adjusts programming as needed.
+ Communicates and collaborates with Library locations regarding programs. changes, soliciting feedback from branch management about program goals.
+ Determines staff assigned to present programs, ensuring that presenter staff time is used efficiently.
+ Ensures outreaches and field trips are scheduled as necessary.
+ Compiles monthly statistical reports for program and outreach attendance and uses data to make recommendations for improvements.
+ Creates procedures for internal processes.
+ Observes and coaches staff assigned to the programming team.
+ Creates positive customer experiences and works with diverse populations to provide customer service in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner.
+ Assists with maintaining appearance standards by reporting facilities issues and picking up litter on library grounds.
+ Performs related work as required.
Open Requirements/Supplemental Information
+ A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and at least three years of professional experience in education or in youth services in a library.
+ Two years of supervisor experience is required.
+ A master’s degree is preferred.
+ Experience in a large and diverse library system is preferred.
