We are seeking highly skilled individuals for the role of **Senior Video Operations Specialist** to join our 24/7 Metro Integrated Command and Communications (MICC) team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for recovery, monitoring, detecting, assessing, and reporting incidents using WMATAs extensive video, alarm, and situational awareness systems across transit vehicles and facilities.
As a senior team member, you will take on complex and sensitive cases, perform in-depth video analysis, and shall serve as the **VIDEO 1 lead liaison** on the Command Line. You will collaborate closely with internal departments and external partners, helping to ensure real-time response and coordination during security or operational events.
Using standardized procedures and innovative technology, you will play a vital role in maintaining the safety and integrity of WMATAs transit system capturing, identifying, and escalating incidents that matter.
Key Responsibilities
+ Perform video recovery, monitoring, analysis, and documentation of critical incidents occurring across WMATA facilities and transit vehicles.
+ Provide timely and accurate video evidence to support ongoing investigations and operational needs in coordination with the Metro Transit Police Department (MTPD), the MICC, and other internal and external stakeholders.
+ Deliver clear, detailed updates and communicate effectively with MICC leadership and shift supervisors, particularly regarding complex or sensitive video investigations.
+ Support 24/7 operations, including availability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
+ Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to support daily MICC operations in alignment with established protocols and standard operating procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
+ **Experience:** Minimum of five (5) years in a security, operations, communications, or dispatch center environment.

+ Associates degree in information systems management, Video Technologies, or related field
Experience
+ A minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a security, control, dispatch, operations, command, or communications center, or in a similar environment.
+ **Other Requirement**
+ No convictions of a felony or serious misdemeanor.
Certification/Licensure
+ Certifications or training regarding criminal justice, computer systems, CCTV/video, incident response, and related fields
+ Possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operators license issued from the state of residence.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Associates degree in information systems management, Video Technologies, or related field
+ Experience working for public or private sector transportation and/or transit organizations, and experience working with video surveillance systems.
+ Coursework in Computer Science, IT, Criminal Justice, Security Management, Homeland Security, Information Security, Physical Security, Cyber Security, or similar fields of study.

Incumbents in this role may be required to report to or continue to work in the event of authorized office closings or service suspensions due to severe weather, natural disaster, fire, operational emergencies, or related events.
Summary
The Senior Video Operations Specialist is responsible for the recovery, monitoring, detection, assessment, coordination, and reporting relating to video, alarm, and other situational awareness systems in use across WMATA facilities and aboard WMATA vehicles. The Senior Video Operations Specialist role is distinguished from that of the Video Operations Specialist, based on a greater emphasis on performing video analysis, and the assignment of more complex and/or sensitive cases. Additionally, the incumbent may be called upon to serve in the lead liaison role (VIDEO 1) for the MICC. The incumbent works as part of a team, using standard operating procedures and training to guide their work, collaborating with co-workers, escalating situations to a supervisor as necessary, and supporting other stakeholders and units inside and outside the MICC. The Senior Video Operations Specialist leverages WMATAs extensive video and related technology deployments to ensure public safety, operational, and other incidents of concern are captured and/or detected and acted upon.
Job Duties
+ Monitors operational procedures and makes improvements to WMATA video cameras based on ridership, special events, and other factors.
+ Leads the seamless communication between shifts, documenting issues, and successes so that the next shift can address them appropriately.
+ Provides first-line technical and application support to Video Operations Specialist staff.
+ Supports special projects and assignments oriented around video as directed by Manager Video Operations.
+ Collaborates with Video Managers to set team targets and implements strategies to achieve them.
+ Staffs and/or supports the "VIDEO 1" position in the MICC, offering direct video support to senior leadership and acting as a liaison between Video Operations and other MICC activities.
+ Retrieves video remotely or in person from facility, bus- and rail- vehicle cameras and processes/disseminates the file to the requestor(s) and/or archives as directed.
+ Oversees team assignments for retrieving video footage either remotely or in person from facility, bus, and rail vehicle cameras. Ensures the proper processing and distribution of the files to requestors or archive them according to specified instructions.
+ Uses available video, on-scene reports, and other data to assess situations and provide actionable information on maintenance team's roadway access to the MICC and other WMATA departments.
+ Identifies patterns, trends, issues, gaps, and other issues requiring escalation and follow-up by management or other parties.
+ Conducts regular functionality audits of camera and alarm systems and coordinates to ensure issues are reported and resolved.
+ Provide forensic video evidence for investigatory matters and union grievances, levels 1 through 3.
+ Monitors available public safety radio channels, local news, social media, intelligence reports, and other sources.
+ Assists in the development of reports pertaining to video, security, and alarms, such as the tracking of security policy violations by employees or contractors.
+ Acknowledges, reviews, and initiates response to security, facility, and other alarms. Provides situational awareness and other support to external and partner agencies.
+ Identifies and assists with the diagnosis of problems with video, alarm, and related systems, and enters and tracks work orders relating to them.
+ Coordinates alarm and incident response with Police, Operations, Safety, Maintenance, and other transportation and public safety agencies and departments.
+ Coordinates with and supports Video Operations Specialist members with activities as needed. Performs analysis of both real-time and recorded video and situations, particularly those of a complex or sensitive nature.
Other Duties
+ Testifies in court as needed.
+ Walks through Rail Yards and Bus Yards to retrieve video evidence.
+ Works various shifts as directed to cover 365 days/24-hour operations.
+ Conducts random checks of the cameras and recording devices at rail stations and arranges for their repair and replacement as needed.
+ Coordinates with and supports other team members and activities as needed.
+ When and as directed or needed, serves as VIDEO 1, which is a liaison role on the main floor of the MICC, providing support and coordination relating to video and the video wall.
+ Maintains and promotes awareness and accountability with safety policies and procedures while performing job functions. Promotes a positive safety culture and encourages reporting of safety concerns consistent with our Agency Safety Plan, other regulatory requirements within the Safety Management System and just culture principles.
