We are seeking a driven Research Specialist to join a laboratory that uses mouse models of bone marrow transplantation (BMT) to study the epigenetic mechanisms contributing to the development of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and the graft-versus-leukemia (GVL) effect.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
+ Conduct murine BMT experiments using established protocols that include,
- Harvest of murine spleen for single cell suspension
- Splenic T-cell purification
- Splenic T-cell flow cytometry
- Harvest of murine bone marrow
- Animal irradiation
- Tail vein injections
+ Participate in long-term monitoring of experiments, including examination of animals and GVHD scoring using an established clinical scale.
+ Assist with analyzing and interpreting murine GVHD and survival data.
+ Participate in post-transplant analyses, including the procurement of organs for fixation, and single-cell suspensions for surface and intracellular multiparameter flow cytometry staining of lymphoid and myeloid cells.
+ Analyze and interpret flow cytometry data.
+ Collaborate with the PI to oversee scientific management of the laboratory.
+ Collaborate with PI or other lab members on research projects
+ Identify and select the best options for scientific strategies and research development based on literature reviews and collaboration with colleagues.
+ Perform a range of laboratory assays. Contribute to writing of scientific publications and grant applications.
+ Act as a resource for laboratory techniques for post-doctoral fellow and students and junior technicians.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
+ One year laboratory experience performing relevant techniques.
+ Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond High School Diploma or graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
