    Job Description

    BAE Systems is seeking a Senior level Site Switching Technician. 3 to 5 years experience assessing, troubleshooting, and performing preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance on Layer 1 Network Switching Systems to include: APCON, PURVIS, NETSCOUT, DTS, XCOM, CURTISS WRIGHT, and NOSC switches that are controlled through the Next Generation Switch Computer (NGSC). Applicant will be conducting Network Switching for hardware and software installations. Assisting with testing and operation of new switches to support new equipment and systems installations for government, military and/or scientific uses.

     

    Perform switch testing, break and relink switch paths to support customer set ups, investigate and correct Network switching issues, install/remove new and old equipment and cables to include low level serial, parallel, and fiber optic.

     

    The selected candidate will perform comprehensive equipment and system level trouble shooting. Successful candidates will provide system/equipment configuration and operational support for all deployed baseline AEGIS and SSDS variants.

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills

    Minimum education and years of service required: High School/GED and at least 3-years demonstrated experience assessing and troubleshooting cable interface issues on Navy computer suites. Switch technicians will be required to work varied shifts based on the project needs and quarterly switch weekends that allow for maintenance on varied switch types. Basic electronics knowledge and the ability to think outside the box to create switching runs for new equipment. Working with engineers and maintenance technicians via reading cable diagrams and schematics for new hardware installations. Experience with documentation development including drawings, technical manuals (operation, assembly, troubleshooting, and repair)

     

    Security clearance requirement: This position requires the successful candidate to be able to obtain a Secret level clearance. The criteria for obtaining and holding a clearance are driven by US government requirements. You must be a US citizen to obtain a security clearance. Selected candidate will receive a contingent offer and start date will be delayed until an interim Secret clearance is granted.

     

    Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

    Highly desired, but not required:

    Active DoD Secret security clearance

     

    Certified ETA Fiber Optic Installer

     

    Security Certification

     

    Experience with Network devices and an understanding of Operating Systems, preferably RedHat or UNIX

     

    AutoCAD

     

    High Level Verbal and Written Communication Skills

     

    Pay Information

     

    Full-Time Salary Range: $70735 - $120250

     

    Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
