    Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cattaraugus County has an opportunity for a Sustainability Campaign Educator working from the Ellicottville, NY office.

     

    The Educator will assist with development, implementation and coordination of sustainability campaigns and subscription management for People United for Sustainable Housing (PUSH) community solar projects. Work includes running campaigns, performing intakes, tenant and community outreach, customer service, database management, and partner coordination serving Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, and Allegany Counties.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Master’s Degree. Bachelor’s Degree plus 4 years transferrable relevant evidence-based research experience may substitute.• Experience relevant to the role of the position.• Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position. • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.• Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.• Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read, and write proficiently) in English.• Ability to present effective and relevant educational lessons to target audiences in group settings.• Ability to relate effectively to co-workers, advisors, community, and professional leaders.• Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and tactfully through verbal, written and electronic methods. • Ability and willingness to work with a high degree of integrity, accuracy, organization, sound professional judgment, and the ability to manage confidential, sensitive information.• Ability to organize, manage, and prioritize multiple tasks, deadlines, requirements, and priorities to complete work in a timely manner and within established deadlines.• Ability to work independently and effectively as a professional team member within multi-agency initiative.• Proficiency with windows-based software including use of the internet and Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel.• Ability to work in a typical office environment which may include lifting, moving, and/or transporting office supplies, work related materials, and equipment with or without accommodation.     PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bilingual/Bicultural • Familiarity with analyzing and data collection of energy costs, and renewable energy technology.• Familiarity with affordable housing or other housing management.• Familiarity with program or project development and/or management.• Familiarity with database management. • Ability to initiate, plan, organize, implement, teach, and evaluate informal educational programs. • Ability to effectively participate in professional team efforts.• Ability to relate effectively to co-workers, advisors, community, and professional leaders.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Program Development - 20%• Assist with development of educational programming and activities to meet identified needs and meet project goals.• Support supervisor in analyzing needs and opportunities within PUSH energy management & drafting community energy management plan.• Assist with development and design of outreach programs and materials.• Assist with identifying and obtaining resources necessary to implement initiatives and projects.• Assist with seeking and incorporate input from project partners.

     

    Program Delivery - 50%• Deliver high quality educational programs and events that address identified needs and project goals.• Collaborate with community agencies as requested or required to facilitate programs and activities.• Assist in multi-agency team efforts through joint planning and program implementation and activities. • Assist with Sustainability outreach, particularly in collaboration with PUSH Buffalo.• Serve as the main point of contact for the participants and provide support as needed to the participants.• Utilize existing program materials and educational framework to implement the recruitment and teaching of the targeted number of both adult and youth participants involved already in various CCE programming. • Assist with ensuring program delivery is within scope of the statewide and Association Plan of Work.• Interact with program participants representing CCE and PUSH in a professional manner at all times.• Represent CCE, program and partners before the public, community leaders, government officials, Cornell, or other land grant universities in a professional manner as part of program delivery.

     

    Program Evaluation - 5%• Assist in the creation of evaluation framework. • Interact with program participants, Association staff, committees, county/community leaders, and other key stakeholders to collect evaluation data for improving programs.• Assist in analyzing collected program evaluation data for reporting and program improvement purposes using standard, established policy, procedure, and methods. • Communicate evaluation results and findings.• Assist with recommending changes to strengthen and improve programs.

     

    Administrative Direction - 10%• Assist with identifying and developing activities and resources necessary to implement initiatives and projects.• Assist with creation of marketing strategies to reach target audiences and meet program needs.• Assist with setting program direction, prioritizing outreach venues.• Assist in identifying community and fiscal resources for program continuance and enhancement.• Provide supervisor with program related information to assist the budget development process.• Collaborate with outside partners to develop and compile contact database.• Assists with development of grant program narrative based on data collected and knowledge of the program and initiatives.• Assist with development of marketing strategies, public affairs, and special events to reach target audiences and meet program objectives.• Assist with effective strategic external and internal communication and marketing efforts to reach target audiences and meet program objectives• Assist in identifying and developing relationships with appropriate agencies, organizations, industries, and community leaders programming.

     

    Administrative Management - 5%• Solve problems and resolve conflicts that arise utilizing appropriate policies and procedures and with guidance of supervisor as needed.• Assist supervisor in administrative and program management activities, as assigned.• Assist with effectively managing program budget allocations. • Make recommendations regarding program budgetary needs.

    Administrative Coordination/Operation - 5%

    • Apply existing subject matter knowledge to coordinate, compile, assemble, organize, and prepare program resources and materials.• Assist with and provide input for the development of marketing materials to highlight program(s).• Coordinate program implementation activities and planning efforts.• Schedule, coordinate and facilitate project-related meetings, community events and conference calls as required or as needed.• Attend phone and conference calls/meetings as needed. Connect with partners to share learning. Actively participate in meetings and events related to project goals and priorities.• Coordinate delivery of contracts to community solar participants & community working group. • Assist with related grant applications, narrative, budget, tracking, and reporting.• Accurately enter and record activities in relevant database/reporting structure.• Assist with data/contact gathering for potential expansion of community solar and energy activities, and all new intakes if an opportunity becomes available• Reach out to tenants over the phone, in-person, and/or via email to document energy consumption and utility costs. Collect and analyze utility bills.• Perform program intake and initial underwriting activities for Category C (grants/loans) and coordinate with supervisor to ensure communication with participants.• Maintain records, complete reports, and accurately collect and prepare paperwork as required.• Effectively maintain existing professional relationships with other agencies, organizations and businesses that promote effective communication and facilitate continued programming efforts.• Prepare and submit accurate expense reports, mileage reports, receipts/supporting documentation, and/or vouchers in a timely manner per established policy and procedures. • Maintain confidentiality of all information and data collected, accessed, and/or maintained.• Provide data and information to assist with preparation of reports, impact statements, and success stories for funders, advisory committees, Board, and others as requested.• Transport self and/or program materials/resources necessary for performing position responsibilities.

    Professional Improvement - 5%

    • In cooperation with the Supervisor, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes in programming and association priorities.• Participate in all required orientation, training, and/or in-service meetings and events as scheduled/required.

     

    Health and Safety - Applies to all duties and functions• Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment.• Be familiar and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.• Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.

    • Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension including but not limited to attendance at staff meetings, timely reporting of expenses, working with other staff, general marketing of Cooperative Extension programs and other duties as assigned. • Conduct all programming and activities in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. • Aware of, and adheres to, established Cornell Cooperative Extension Association policies, procedures, processes, and Skills for Success. • Represent Cornell Cooperative Extension to the public, community leaders, colleagues, volunteers, members of Cornell University faculty and staff, government officials and the general public in a professional manner at all times. • Perform all assigned duties in a professional, timely, and accurate manner.• Maintain regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
