• Preventative Maintenance Technician

    Waste Connections (San Luis Obispo, CA)


    San Luis Garbage, a Waste Connections company, is now hiring for a _safety conscious_ **Diesel Mechanic** to join the team at our hauling location in **San Luis Obispo, CA!**

     

    **The starting pay rate will be $25-35/hour, depending on experience.** The pay range for this job category is $25-42/hour. We also offer regular wage increases, great family benefits, and stable, year round work.

     

    The schedule will be Tuesday - Saturday.

     

    Tuesday- Friday: 1pm-9:30pm

     

    Saturday 6am-2:30pm

    Responsibilities Include:

    + Inspects and repairs vehicles with diesel engines

    + Handles routine repairs, including oil and tire changes along with minor and major repairs from A/C, hydraulics, electrical, welding, engine replacement, transmissions, etc.

    + Interprets diagnostic test results accurately

    + Writes detailed inspection reports and repair plans in our system

    + Collaborates with other diesel mechanics

    + Completes test drives to make sure the vehicle runs correctly

    + Uses power, machine, and hand tools safely

    + Communicate with drivers for issues in morning and afternoon

    + Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports

    + Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards

    + Follows all Waste Connections repair shop regulations and standards

    Qualified candidate must have:

    + 2+ years experience in a Diesel Mechanic role

    + Tool set, tool box and proper personal safety equipment required

    + Basic computer skills and ability to learn test diagnostic laptop and software

    + Commercial Driver's License or ability to obtain one.

    + Welding experience is a plus

    + Minimum of a High School diploma or GED
