We are looking for people with experience in Production Planning Management, interested in starting a SWEET career to lead our Production Planning & Inventory Management team at PIM’s Somerset, New Jersey. This position will report to our Director of Plant Operations.
The Manager of Planning & Inventory reports directly to the Director of Manufacturing and is responsible for leading the development and execution of production planning and inventory management strategies to ensure operational efficiency and alignment with business objectives. This role involves evaluating sales forecasts, conducting market analysis, and optimizing resource utilization across materials, labor, and scheduling.
The Manager will oversee the end-to-end planning process, lead cross-functional coordination, and proactively identify opportunities to enhance supply chain performance. The role requires strong leadership, analytical capabilities, and a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and inventory systems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Develop and manage comprehensive production schedules based on sales forecasts, customer orders, and historical data to meet delivery timelines and optimize plant operations.
+ Lead analysis of plant capacity and perform resource planning, including tools, labor, and equipment, to support efficient manufacturing workflows.
+ Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Procurement, Sales, and Quality—to align planning with business goals and customer demand.
+ Identify and mitigate production delays by adjusting schedules and reallocating resources as needed.
+ Conduct regular reviews of inventory levels and material availability to support production targets while minimizing excess and obsolescence.

+ Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory accuracy, service levels, and schedule adherence.
+ Ensure compliance with food safety, quality standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), reporting concerns to Plant Management and SQFP.
+ Lead and mentor planning and inventory staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
+ Oversee the analysis and validation of sales forecasts and partner with the Senior Supply Chain Analyst to determine plant-wide monthly and annual commitments.
+ Manage disposition processes for discontinued items and support the generation of material consumption variation reports.
+ Drive ongoing improvements in system usage (SOM, MRP, ERP) and inventory control processes.
+ Oversee daily inventory processes, including cycle counting and reconciliation activities.
+ Support and lead special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
.
+ Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
+ 5–7 years of progressive experience in production planning, inventory control, and materials management within a manufacturing environment.
+ Proven experience with ERP/MRP systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
+ Strong analytical, mathematical, and decision-making skills.
+ Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence across departments.
+ Demonstrated ability to adapt to dynamic business needs and lead through change.
+ Strong organizational and project management capabilities.

This role involves periods of standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, and crouching. Manual dexterity is required to operate office equipment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position operates in both an office and manufacturing plant setting. The manufacturing environment may include noise, varying temperatures, and exposure to mechanical operations. Compliance with GMPs, including use of personal protective equipment (hair net, beard net, gloves, protective eyewear, etc.) is required when present on the plant floor.
