General Information & Responsibilities
The Community Education Center (CEC) Coordinator provides supervision of Adult Education and PaCE programming; acts as a liaison between administration, instructors, staff, and CEC partners; provides facility management and support for the CEC; creates and manages grant applications and fiscal reporting; ensures accuracy of enrollment and progress data; establishes and maintains good working relationships within the community; and promotes College programs and services.
Description of Duties
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
+ Hires, supervises, and evaluates CEC staff.
+ Manages the CEC facility and provides support to faculty and staff as needed.
+ Works with PaCE Department to schedule classes at the CEC for the community.
+ Works with the College regarding public use of the CEC.
+ Coordinates support services for students such as the food pantry and access to transportation.
+ Recruits, hires, evaluates Adult Education faculty.
+ Schedules and organizes the placement and pre/post testing of Adult Education students in compliance with the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) and test developer protocols and maintains ICCB required certification for administering tests.
+ Responsible for the accuracy and timely submission of registrations, records, reports, schedules, grades, and other data required by Adult Education, PaCE, and other programs.
+ Acts as a liaison between administration, instructors, staff, and CEC partners.
+ Analyzes Adult Education student data including testing, curriculum, and retention to identify areas of need to meet College and ICCB goals.
+ Manages assigned BHC budgets and grants and prepares required fiscal reports.
+ Recommends, implements, promotes, and evaluates Adult Education, PaCE, and college programming in response to identified needs of businesses and the community.
+ Identifies and writes proposals for funding; serves as budget manager for assigned grants including fiscal and compliance reporting.
+ Advises students to discuss initial placement, progress, and transitions.
+ Promotes CEC programming in cooperation with the Marketing Department.
+ Provides effective recruitment and promotion of programs by developing and maintaining College and community relationships.
+ Prepares book and supply orders in collaboration with faculty and Director of Adult Education.
+ Maintains a safe and orderly climate that fosters student learning and personal development.
DESCRIPTION OF OTHER DUTIES:
+ Executes other duties and responsibilities as may be required to fulfill the mission of the College.
+ Maintains assigned files for College including those of a confidential nature.
+ Assists Adult Education Department with review and completion of quarterly reports for funding agencies and year end closeouts.
+ Coordinates special projects as assigned.
+ Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

PRINCIPAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
+ Reports directly to the Associate Vice President for Adult, Continuing and Workforce Education.
+ Works directly with the Director of Adult Education, Director of Professional and Continuing Education, and East Campus Administration.
+ Works directly with the general public, students, and visitors.
+ Works directly with Adult Education/PaCE staff and faculty.
+ Works cooperatively with all Black Hawk College staff and faculty.
+ Works cooperatively with community agencies as required, including school districts, libraries, Regional Offices of Education, and various state agencies and partners.
Education & Experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.)
+ Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in teaching and/or management experience required. Master’s degree in education or related field with teaching/management experience preferred.
+ Experience working with diverse populations required.
+ Basic level of proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
+ Strong communication skills required.
+ Experience in hiring and supervision of personnel required.
+ Experience in coordinating programs strongly preferred.
+ Experience in writing and managing grants preferred.
