Responsibilities:
Assists in delivering College services in a residential area, assigned business operations and functions, and serves as a member of the professional staff in the residential area and the Office for Residential Life. Supports goals and programs to contribute to the intellectual, cultural and social growth of residential students. Administers all Residential Life and University social and business policies and programs in their area and maintains University liaison relationships with the community. Must live in campus housing on campus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
+ Presents a comprehensive program for the residential area, aimed at creation of productive residential communities, including social, educational, cultural and recreational programs, student government advising and leadership development programs, emergency response procedures, counseling, advising, and referral mechanisms, intervention, mediation and adjudication programs, etc.
+ May supervises area staff, including include team building, goal and expectation setting, training and development, advising, staff meetings, formal and informal evaluation, and other personnel related activities.
+ Ensures staff and residents are aware of the rules and responsibilities for residents of the housing system.
+ Assists students in developing behavioral standards appropriate to group living in an academic institution.
+ Confronts individuals and groups whose behavior is unacceptable and initiates appropriate student conduct action.
+ Advises/counsels individuals and groups of students on personal, residential living or other matters.
+ Makes referrals to other areas of the University when appropriate.
+ Assists in the maintenance of current and accurate accounting of the residential area budget.
+ Monitors assigned operations and personnel expenditures to insure correctness. Initiates cost saving measures whenever possible.
+ Responds to budget information and change requests as directed by the Residential Life Central Office.
+ Assists in regular inspections of the residence area to ensure appropriate facilities and cleanliness standards are being maintained.
+ Maintains accurate inventory records for furnishings, equipment and supplies.
+ Ensures area facilities comply with all applicable fire, health and safety regulations.
+ Coordinates with appropriate departments for fire drill, health and safety inspections.
+ Follows-up on all health, safety and security reports to ensure problems have been corrected.
+ Administers the billing processes for the living area, such as damages, excess phone charges, etc.
+ Publishes notifications to students and the fee bills. Serves as liaison with students, parents, the Bursar, etc.
+ Coordinates the summer conference operations for the living area.
+ Organizes staffing, building preparation, billings, check-in and check-out processes.
+ Serves as liaison with the Conference Services Office, custodial and maintenance services, other Residential Life areas, Security, outside vendors and other involved departments.
+ Assists leadership in development of policy, procedures and directions for the operation and betterment of the University housing system.
+ Participates in committee, research and special project work related to student concerns and Residential Life.
+ Assists with or assumes leadership in development and presentation of departmental staff and student training programs.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
+ Master's degree and some experience in college student personnel work, preferably in-residence halls, required
+ Or equivalent combination of education and experience
