Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)
Salary: $57,151
Duties include:
+ Admissions
+ Review applications in SLATE and admit qualified candidates to the program.
+ Keep track of admissions conditions
+ Field Work Management
+ Coordinate internship experiences
+ Work with the special education program faculty on placements; corresponding with students, cooperating teachers, administrators, and university-based supervisors throughout the placement process
+ Organize and coordinate clinical experience office recordkeeping and documentation
+ District MOUs
+ Collect fieldwork forms and MOUs from school districts
+ Verify all necessary memoranda of understanding are in place with appropriate districts for students during each academic year.
+ Course enrollment
+ Identify courses needed each semester and number of sections based on program planning sheets
+ Meet regularly with the faculty program coordinator.
+ Student dispositions
+ Assist in solving interpersonal communication problems that may arise between teacher candidates, mentor teachers/cooperating teachers, and supervisors
+ Review and keep records of all field- and course-based professional disposition concern reports with the Faculty Coordinator.
+ Plans of study
+ Maintain current student Plans of Study sheets and Program Progress planning sheets
+ Regularly compare and review all Student Plans of Study for accuracy and completeness
+ Orientations
+ Conduct ongoing virtual orientations
Job Requirements:
+ Bachelor's degree
+ At least two years of relevant experience in higher education, K-12 education, advising, counseling, teaching, or other academic affairs/student services-related experience
+ Proven experience building and maintaining partnerships with school districts and/or community organizations/campus departments
+ Experience building and maintaining spreadsheets
+ Understanding of the educational role of academic advising in enhancing student learning and development
+ Familiarity with monitoring student progress
+ Ability to manage several high-priority tasks at once
+ Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
+ Excellent organizational skills
Preferred:
+ Master's degree
+ Experience as a cooperating teacher and/or supervisor of student teachers
+ Experience in student programming, developing, coordinating, and conducting workshops, events, and/or programs for an online population
+ Experience with the use of technology and experience with Brightspace, Microsoft Suite, Banner, Slate, and/or other student management software
+ Familiarity with English language and special education fields
+ Knowledge of New York State teacher preparation programs, field education, and certification requirements, knowledge of Binghamton University student services policies and procedures, and campus resources
+ Familiarity with schools and districts in New York State
