    Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)

     

    Salary: $57,151 - $60,000

     

    The School of Management (SOM) at Binghamton University invites applications for a full-time Career Coach and Employer Relations Coordinator position starting Fall 2025. The Career Coach and Employer Engagement Coordinator plays a dual role in SOM; providing personalized career support to undergraduate and graduate students, and strengthening employer connections. The successful candidate will excel at relationship building and networking, and be dedicated motivating and supporting students in the pursuit of their career goals. This position will be part of the SOM Career Services team, but will also work closely with the SOM Constituent Relations office.

    Professional Responsibilities:

    + Career Engagement

    + Provide one-on-one and group career coaching (virtually and in-person); helping students identify career goals, explore career options, and develop actionable plans for achieving those goals.

    + Assist students with preparing job application materials including resumes and cover letters, and support them in interview preparation.

    + Administer and interpret career assessments to help students understand their strengths, interests, and values.

    + Coordinate and support professional development workshops and networking programs (i.e., SOM Career Week, recruitment info-sessions, employer coffee-chats, etc.).

    + Support student transitions and early engagement with SOM Career Services at orientation sessions and open house events, and through first-year experiences.

    + Track and document coaching sessions, maintain accurate records, and follow up with students to monitor progress.

    + Support students in securing internships and work-based learning opportunities.

    + Coordinate with SOM Constituent Relations to mutually support student organization professional development and networking programming.

    + Employer Engagement

    + Develop and maintain relationships with employers, alumni, and industry partners, and professional associations to expand job and internship opportunities for students.

    + Coordinate and promote employer engagement activities such as career fairs, networking events, on-campus recruiting, and industry panels.

    + Collaborate with academic and administrative colleagues to align employer relations strategies with program goals and student needs.

    + Develop and implement strategies to connect students with industry representatives for job shadowing, mentoring, and career exploration.

    + Engage with faculty and community partners to promote career development initiatives and workforce opportunities.

    + Represent SOM at professional events, committees, and within professional organizations to share best practices and strengthen partnerships.

     

    Salary and benefits are aligned with SUNY UUP member negotiated benefits. The position reports to the Director of SOM Career Services.

    Job Requirements:

    + Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, communications, marketing, psychology, education or a related field

    + At least one (1) year of work experience in a university career services office or in a business/industry environment involving career and employment issues, recruiting, business development or a related area

    + Experience developing and maintaining professional networks with employers, alumni, and/or industry partners

    + Experience leveraging LinkedIn and other social media platforms for stakeholder outreach and engagement

    + Demonstrated success in planning, executing and evaluating events

    + Ability to travel

    + Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends

    Preferred:

    + Master's degree in in business administration, human resources, communications, marketing, psychology, education or a related field

    + Experience using career management systems (e.g., Handshake) or project management tools to track student progress, manage employer contacts, and coordinate events

    + Experience in sales, marketing, or business development
