The Thomas J. Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science at Binghamton University invites applications from outstanding experts in Trustworthy AI for a tenured faculty position at the Full Professor level. This position will carry the title of SUNY Empire Innovation Professor, and is supported in part by SUNY's Empire Innovation Program (EIP), a key initiative to recruit and retain faculty with an established track record of research and scholarship in areas of strategic priority.
We are seeking exceptional and well-established experts who have outstanding track records of leadership in funded research, scholarship, teaching and service in one or more areas of Trustworthy AI, including but not limited to:
+ AI safety and fairness
+ AI for next-generation intelligent and secure networks
+ AI for systems resilience, reliability, and security
+ AI safety and security in healthcare
+ AI-enabled cybersecurity and privacy
+ Explainable AI
+ Data integrity in AI models
+ AI in complex systems, manufacturing, and supply chain
+ Securing generative AI models
+ Causal effects in AI
+ AI in energy systems
As an Empire Innovation Professor, the successful candidate will bolster leadership in the new Binghamton Institute for AI & Society, enable cross-cutting collaborations in Trustworthy AI, and strategize future directions. The successful candidate must have an established record of funding from federal/state agencies and industry and will be expected to lead in the pursuit of large funding opportunities from agencies such as DoD, NSF, DoE, NIH, NYSTAR, etc., for various trustworthy AI research areas and establish a collaborative research ecosystems involving multiple campus units, federal/state agencies, and industry to help Binghamton University stand out in Trustworthy AI research. The EIP hire would also help recruit and attract top talent to complement existing strengths.

Job Requirements:
+ A doctoral degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
+ Exceptional record of research leadership in cross-cutting multi-institutional collaborative teams.
+ Exceptional and sustained record of securing sponsored research funding from federal agencies.
+ Exceptional record of peer-reviewed high-impact publications.
+ Proven record as an educator and research mentor at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
