Description:

The Emergency Department Technician performs a variety of direct patient care procedures assisting the professional staff, physicians, and/or department leadership to provide mission-driven patient centered care focused on meeting the needs of our patients.

+ ·Meets the comfort and hygiene needs of the patient by providing care services. Distributes meals and beverages, takes vital signs, collects lab specimens.

+ ·Assists with completion of patient testing and treatment procedures, sets up and primes IV tubing, 12-lead ECG, simple tracheostomy suctioning and care, changes dressings, obtains blood specimens utilizing appropriate skin puncture and venipuncture techniques, performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation, obtains wound and throat cultures.

+ ·Assists physician and professional staff in equipment supply and set up.

+ ·Assists with ambulating patients with assistive devices such as crutches and with transfer/transport procedures.

+ ·Performs required documentation and communicates in a competent and effective manner to meet patient and/or family needs and regulatory requirements.

+ ·Utilizes time and resources effectively to promote quality and cost outcomes.

+ ·Other department specific duties as assigned.

**Position Requirements** :

Minimum Education:

**Required:** High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education

Minimum Experience:

**Preferred:** 1-2 years of previous job-related experience

Licensure/Certifications:

Required:

BLS American Heart Association

Preferred:

Licensed EMT Paramedic State of Illinois

Licensed EMT-Basic and/or Paramedic State of Illinois

**Other:** Completion of an Illinois Department of Health program (CNA, EMT-B, EMT-P)with verification, or the ability to prove an equal or higher level of education in a nursing focused program.

Compensation:

Salary Range: $16.70 - $25.53 per hour

_Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles._
