    Description

    Under the direction of the Director of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), serve as a Radiation Safety Specialist for UCLA Health. Responsible for implementing all aspects of the Radiation Safety Program. This includes monitoring the use of radioactive materials and radiation producing equipment: lasers, MR machines, performing routine audits of laboratories, nuclear medicine, and radiation oncology; assisting with radiation safety training, assisting in implementing the UCLA Health Dosimetry Program, completing containment set up and clearance protocols related to staff therapeutic administration of sealed and unsealed radioactive materials to UCLA Health patients. Performance of other duties mandated under California and Federal Radiation Control Regulations for use of radioactive materials and radiation machines.

     

    Salary Range: $32.95-67.53/hr

     

    _Salary offers are based on a variety of factors including qualifications, experience, and internal equity. The full salary range for this position is_

     

    _$31 - $33 hourly. The University anticipates offering a salary between the minimum and midpoint of this range._

    Qualifications

    1. Skill in preparing concise, grammatically correct reports and other documents. (required)

    2. Attention to detail. (required)

    3. Basic Math skills, at the level of 8 th grade math (Algebra 1) (required)

    4. Basic understanding of units of measurements. (required)

    5. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other staff members, managers, administration and external persons and regulatory agencies. (Required)

    6. Skill in implementing a Safety Program. (Preferred)

    7. Skill in reading, understanding and interpreting National and State laws and Hospital Safety codes. (Preferred)

    8. Knowledge of healthcare related radiation safety policies and procedures. (Preferred)

    9. Working knowledge of radiation safety instruments (Preferred)

    10. General knowledge of modern radiation safety equipment used in hospital and other healthcare settings. (Preferred)

    11. Ability to conduct training sessions for new and continuing employees. (Preferred)

    12. Ability to work under minimal supervision and achieve desired outcomes. (Preferred)

    13. Ability to make effective presentations to convey information on safety policies, procedures and issues. (Preferred)

    14. General knowledge of general and radiation safety issues and regulations relative to healthcare. (Preferred)

    15. General knowledge of hospital communication systems, including voice paging, smart phone technology, 2-way radio equipment and other computer-based programs. (Preferred)
