Software Engineer - Embedded Systems

We’re looking for an experienced Software Engineer to lead the development of embedded software for cutting-edge acoustic systems used in complex, secure environments. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll shape architecture, drive technical direction, and deliver production-ready software that integrates into sophisticated multi-system platforms.

What You’ll Do

+ Own the architecture and execution of embedded software projects from concept to deployment.

+ Lead technical decisions across software, hardware, FPGA, and systems teams.

+ Design secure, scalable interfaces for integration with external systems and third-party platforms.

+ Contribute to containerized deployments using Kubernetes in secure environments.

+ Drive cybersecurity compliance (CMMC, NIST 800-218) and observability (e.g., Fluentd).

+ Collaborate with project managers to define milestones and track execution.

+ Mentor engineers and lead code reviews, design sessions, and troubleshooting efforts.

What You Bring

+ Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.

+ 10+ years of experience in embedded software development.

+ Expertise in C, C++ (C++11 or later), and Python.

+ Deep knowledge of embedded Linux, bare-metal firmware, and real-time systems.

+ Proven ability to lead architecture and integration in cross-functional teams.

+ U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for DoD Secret clearance.

+ Willingness to work onsite in Santa Barbara (remote not available).

Bonus Points For

+ Experience with Yocto/Buildroot, SBOM standards (SPDX, CycloneDX), and DevOps tools (GitLab CI, Kubernetes).

+ Familiarity with DSP, undersea acoustics, or signal processing.

+ Knowledge of SoC architectures and CPU–FPGA shared memory.

+ Exposure to automated security testing (e.g., SonarQube, GitLab SAST).

What We Offer

Salary: $145,000 – $185,000+ (commensurate with experience and leadership scope)

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $145000.00 - $200000.00/yr.
