General Description:
The Lab Informatics Engineer will play a crucial role in advancing our research efforts by leveraging advanced laboratory informatics solutions. The position is an integral member of the Research Technology team within Global Technology Services and will be responsible for the design and implementation of the Research organization-wide lab informatics solutions and technical architecture, ensuring the strategy supports the current and future business needs.
This position requires a highly analytical and innovative individual who can develop and implement data-driven solutions to complex problems in the pharmaceutical and biotech domains, with a focus on optimizing laboratory processes and data management. The ideal candidate shall have a strong background in laboratory informatics, data analysis, and data management, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
This role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to staying current with the latest advancements in the field. The role will be instrumental in driving data-driven decision-making and enhancing our research capabilities through cutting-edge lab informatics methodologies and technologies.
Essential Functions:
Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Support and Maintenance
+ Work closely with the laboratory team to gather requirements and optimize system functionality to improve laboratory efficiency and data accuracy.
+ Support the deployment, upgrade, and maintenance of the LIMS system to ensure its normal operation. Provide timely technical support to resolve issues encountered by users during the system usage.
Data Analysis and Management
+ Support the data engineering team in implementing laboratory data transfer, backup, and restore activities to ensure the security, integrity, and traceability of laboratory data.
+ Assist the Data Engineering team in deploying data analysis tools and be able to use the tools to analyze laboratory data, providing data support for research and development decision-making.
+ System Integration and Automation
+ Support seamless integration of the LIMS with other laboratory equipment (such as instruments and automation devices) to achieve automated data collection and transmission.
+ Promote the automation of laboratory processes to reduce manual operations and improve work efficiency and data quality.
Project Coordination
+ Participate in the planning and implementation of laboratory informatization projects to ensure timely and quality completion.
+ Collaborate with cross-departmental teams to coordinate resources and drive project progress.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
+ Ensure that the development and operation of laboratory information systems comply with relevant regulations and standards (such as GCP, ISO, etc.).
+ Participate in system validation and audit activities to ensure system reliability and compliance, including periodic system reviews, 3Q validation (Installation Qualification, Operational Qualification, Performance Qualification), and other relevant activities.

Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related major. Master’s or above degree is highly preferred.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Information Technology, Informatics, or related fields.
+ At least 6 years of relevant work experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry. With hands-on experience in the implementation and maintenance of LIMS and ELN a must.
+ Familiarity with laboratory workflows and data management requirements.
+ Knowledge of bioinformatics, cheminformatics, or other life science related fields preferred
+ Proficient in at least one of the programming languages (such as Java, Python, C#).
+ Familiar with database technologies (such as SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle), capable of database administration and query.
+ Knowledge of interface technologies for laboratory automation equipment and instruments, capable of integrating systems.
+ Familiar with data analysis tools (such as R, Python data analysis libraries), with data mining and analysis capabilities.
+ Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is preferred.
+ Excellent communication and teamwork skills, capable of effectively collaborating with laboratory personnel, IT teams, and other departments.
+ Strong problem-solving skills, capable of quickly identifying and resolving issues during system operation.
+ Knowledge of industry-related regulations and standards (such as GLP, GCP, ISO).
+ Mandarin language skills highly preferred.
Travel:
Domestic travel may be needed.
