    Job Summary

    Red Butte Garden & Arboretum ( RBGA ) is one of the largest botanical gardens in the Intermountain West and together with the University of Utah, is the State Arboretum of Utah. We are located on 100 acres in the foothills on the eastern edge of the University of Utah campus. The Garden has welcomed guests since 1985 and consists of over 21 acres of developed gardens and five miles of hiking trails winding through an extensive Natural Area. The Garden, which is community-funded; is renowned for its numerous plant collections, display gardens, 590,000 springtime blooming bulbs; including a vast collection of daffodils; gorgeous private event spaces, a world-class outdoor concert series, and award-winning horticulture-based educational programs.

     

    Red Butte Garden is seeking an energetic and reliable individual to join our custodial team! The ideal candidate will perform a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for all staff and guests. This role plays a key part in upholding our high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety.

    Red Butte Garden is accessible via several UTA bus routes that stop in Research Park and at the University Medical Center, as well as the TRAX Red Line, followed by a short walk or an on-demand University of Utah campus shuttle. The Sunnyside Route offers direct service to Red Butte Garden and operates Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, excluding academic breaks. For more information see:

    Responsibilities

    1. Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and dusts floors to maintain cleanliness and safety.

    2. Cleans and sanitizes restrooms, including toilets, sinks, showers, bathtubs, and walls; dusts, vacuums, and wipes down furniture, fixtures, doors, and related furnishings using appropriate cleaning supplies.

    3. Operates and maintains custodial equipment such as electric floor machines, industrial vacuums, carpet shampooers, and upholstery cleaning machines.

    4. Cleans, refinishes, and maintains various types of floor coverings.

    5. Properly labels and disposes of infections waste bags and containers in accordance with safely protocols.

    6. Transports custodial supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.

    7. Replaces sharps containers, removes trash and empty boxes, and organizes storage closets.

    Minimum Qualifications

    This is an entry-level position. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills are required. Six months of related experience is preferred.

    + Must be available at least one morning during the weekend.
