Position Summary:
Comtech Systems, Inc. (CSI) is looking for a Technical Writer to support one of our government clients in Columbia, MD.
Responsibilities:
+ Write, rewrite, and/or edit technical documents, such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications, to clearly and effectively communicate technical requirements and instructions to a wide range of audiences.
+ Acquire subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing the performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals.
+ Oversee the preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts.
+ Conduct quality review of materials.
+ Translate complex data into user-friendly text for print and electronic publications, such as technical journals, user and training manuals, government proposals, websites, and podcasts. Gather information through research, statistical reports, and interviews with technical staff.
+ Develop cataloging systems and maintain records, files, electronic media, and archives of information for publications.
+ Assist in preparing material for technical seminars and business forums. May be called upon to assist in technical or business presentations at meetings as needed for business or customer requirements.
+ Select or recommend the use of layouts, graphics, drawings, tables, exhibits, illustrations, charts, or storyboards to amplify or clarify publication objectives.
Qualifications:
+ Career-level understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts.
+ Able to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems with general direction.
+ Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain.
Education:
+ Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with 1 - 5 years of experience
