Position Summary
Valve Assemblers at Lexair build valves for our commercial valve and/or defense valve product lines. Assemblers are responsible for assembling, testing, pulling parts for assembly, and packing valves for shipment and expected to meet established specifications and quality standards. This role involves working with various valve components, tools including but not limited to hand and impact tools and using equipment (i.e. test stands) to ensure the proper functioning of valves. The ideal candidate should possess strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities
+ Valve Assembly: Assemble valves for our commercial valve and/or defense valve product lines by following engineering drawings and work instructions to meet established quality standards.
+ Pulling Parts for Assembly: Retrieve necessary components and materials from inventory for valve assembly, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specifications.
+ Tool Operation: Utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment for precise assembly tasks, adhering to safety protocols and operational guidelines.
+ Functional Testing: Test completed valves to verify functionality, performance, and pressure rating, making necessary adjustments to meet operational standards.
+ Documentation: Maintain accurate records of the assembly process, test results, and any adjustments made. Report issues with materials, components, or procedures to the appropriate departments.
+ Component Inspection: Inspect parts and components for defects, ensuring they meet the required tolerances and quality specifications before starting the assembly process.
+ Packing Assembled Products: Prepare and pack assembled valves for shipping, ensuring secure and proper packaging to avoid damage during transit.
+ Problem-Solving: Collaborate with the engineering and quality control teams to troubleshoot assembly issues, improve processes, and resolve technical problems.
+ Continuous Improvement: Participate in process improvement initiatives, offering suggestions to enhance production efficiency and product quality.
+ Workplace Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace by following company policies and safety regulations.
+ Team Collaboration: Work effectively with team members, fostering a cooperative environment to meet production goals and deadlines.
+ Other: Other duties may be required as assigned by the Company.
Qualifications
+ Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
+ Experience: Prior experience in mechanical assembly, manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.
+ Mechanical Aptitude: Strong mechanical skills with the ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
+ Tool Proficiency: Experience and ability to use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, and gauges).
+ Attention to Detail: Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality work with attention to detail and accuracy in following assembly instructions.
+ Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a willingness to learn new processes and techniques.
+ Communication: Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately and communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues.
+ Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, contributing to shared goals.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
+ Work Environment: The role is performed in a manufacturing environment, which may involve exposure to noise, dust, and other industrial materials.
+ Work Schedule: Generally, 4 10-hour days a week
+ 7am-5:30pm with 30 min unpaid lunch break and two 10-minute paid breaks.
+ Occasional overtime may be required adding a 5th workday during the week.
+ Physical Demands:
+ Ability to sit or stand for 2-3 hours at a time, and for a 10-hour workday.
+ Ability to bend, and twist to reach parts and tools.
+ Ability to reach overhead, or extended out from body, and pull tools and/or parts to your immediate working space.
+ Ability to work with tools and small parts for extended periods of time.
+ Ability to lift and move parts or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs regularly, up to 75lbs occasionally.
+ Manual dexterity (fingers, wrists) is required for operating tools and handling small components.
+ Safety: Must adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment. Must wear safety glasses and closed toe shoes while on the shop floor.
