Description
Under the general direction of the Parks & Recreation Manager, the Recreation Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating recreational activities and special events conducted at Wolf Pen Creek, Meyer Senior & Community Center and the Southwood Community Center to maximize service delivery to the community. Responsible for planning, organizing, promoting, and implementing a variety of special events and recreation programs in the community.
Principal Duties
+ Responsible for overall operation, staffing, budget, and rental of Wolf Pen Creek, Meyer Senior & Community Center and the Southwood Community Center, including but not limited to, providing oversight of day-to-day operations, facility operations and rentals, safety protocols and compliance, and management of assigned staff.
+ Plan, coordinate and oversee event preparation for the Parks & Recreation department for various events as assigned and serve as the primary departmental contact for development, implementation and coordination of public special events with Parks and Recreation staff, external event organizers and community organizations.
+ Work with various independent program contractors, artists, food vendors and community organizations to include contract preparation and general oversite.
+ Oversee, train, motivate and evaluate assigned staff; work with employees to correct deficiencies; identify and resolve employee concerns and/or problems; direct work; complete employee performance evaluations and make hiring, terminating and disciplinary decisions or recommendations.??
+ Assess quality of customer service and effectiveness of existing programs, events and through the distribution and evaluation of participant surveys. Analyze results and develop and implement methods for improvement.
+ Prepare and manage associated cost center and event budgets, operational records and reports, and achieve revenue goals.
+ Seek public/private sponsorship opportunities and relationships for events and coordinate community volunteer efforts to assist with special events and provide support for events and/or other activities.
+ Plan and coordinate advertising, news releases, and public service announcements for special events and activities.
+ Maintain adequate inventory and upkeep of equipment used in the operation of assigned programs.
+ Represent the department by serving on internal and external committees and boards as requested.
+ Assist with extracurricular departmental activities and perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
-Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation or related field and three (3) years’ experience related to area of assignment, including supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
-Valid Texas Driver’s License
-Knowledge of the entertainment industry and technical aspects of performance programming, including procedures for booking/scheduling of entertainers, stage sound, light, and electrical requirements
-Knowledge of planning and program development
-Excellent written and oral communication skills
-Available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
