Job Description
As a Student Nurse Extern, you’ll support licensed nurses in providing hands-on care to patients in a hospital setting. You’ll apply what you’re learning in nursing school while gaining valuable real-world experience—always working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
What You’ll Do
+ Monitor and document patient information; promptly share updates with the RN
+ Help with procedures, transport supplies/specimens, and follow safety protocols
+ Assist with daily tasks like hygiene, feeding, and mobility to support patient comfort and independence
+ Respect patient preferences, cultures, and rights at all times
+ Practice skills you're clinically trained and approved to perform
+ Keep your work area safe, clean, and organized
+ Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and high-quality care environment
+ Provide age-appropriate care, understanding each patient’s unique physical and emotional needs
+ Maintain a friendly and professional attitude with everyone you interact with
+ Follow all policies, codes of conduct, and compliance training requirements
What You Need to Qualify
+ Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited associate or bachelor’s **nursing program**
+ Successfully completed **nursing fundamentals** (classroom and clinical) with documented skills competency
+ Maintain a **minimum 3.0 GPA**
+ Hold a **current BLS certification**
+ Provide proof of continued **nursing program enrollment** each semester
+ Complete all required **SNE training and competencies within 90 days** of hire
