Job Summary

We are seeking a high-reaching leader to join our team at Derryfield School, serving over 400 students in grades 6-12. This is an outstanding opportunity to implement extraordinary culinary standards and craft an outstanding dining experience in an educational setting!

Working as the Senior Chef Manager you will be responsible for back and front of the house operations for the food service department. You will maintain a quality culinary program and process all financial reporting. Duties also include menu development, inventory, purchasing, labor and food cost controls, maintaining sanitation standards, and personnel management to include hiring, mentoring, counseling, training and developing.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws

+ Participate in employee meetings and training programs

+ Conduct safety, sanitation, and maintenance programs

+ Maintain food cost while ensuring quality standards

+ Actively lead team developments

+ Coordinate purchasing and inventory controls

+ Perform related duties and special projects as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent professional experience

+ Five years of dynamic culinary management experience

+ Confirmed ability to multitask and innovate

+ Maintain a positive demeanor under pressure while motivating the team

+ Passion for excellence

+ Knowledge of HACCP controls and accurate food storage

+ Experience in purchasing, food storage, and sanitation

+ P&L and financial reporting experience

+ Strong leadership, mentoring, and training skills

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office and POS systems

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills

+ Outstanding business etiquette and client relations

+ Ability to lift, bend, and carry up to 40 lbs

+ Knowledge of safe and sanitary food handling principles

+ Adherence to the highest standards of personal integrity and ethical behavior

+ ServSafe or Department of Health certification is a plus
