Tha Gananda CSD anticipates the need for a 1.0 FTE probationary School Psychologist for the start of the 2025-26 school year. Salary range is $48,300 - $63,382 dependent of education and level of experience. Benefits per the Gananda Teachers' Association Contract include 95% district contribution towards an Excellus HDHP, district contribution to a Health Savings Account (HSA) and a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA), paid sick time and personal time, and membership in the New York State Teacher Retirement System.
All applicants must hold or in the process of being a NYS school psychologist certification.
JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Consults with students, parents, teachers, administrators and members of the RTI team
concerning learning strategies, and/or emotional support for pupils who are experiencing
problems in school.
2. Assists in the reconciliation of the needs of the pupil, the parent and the school by planning
suitable modifications in the behavior of each so that the pupil can learn more effectively.
3. Assists with evaluation and placement of all students with disabilities and collaborates with
case manager on development of I.E.Ps as part of the Committee on Special Education
process.
4. Evaluates and diagnoses cognitive and emotional strengths and problems of pupils who are
referred as having learning difficulties.
5. Determines the appropriate evaluation tools or outside referral sources to use when attempting
to answer the questions posed by school personnel in regard to a particular child.
6. Works closely with staff members and other resource specialists when collecting information
regarding a pupil.
7. Assists teachers to develop remediation techniques and programs which are applicable to
particular classroom situations through class observations, parent and teacher conferences,
and individual student assessments.
8. Communicates results of evaluations and recommendations to the staff, parents and other
interested parties.
9. Makes recommendations for additional services when appropriate.
10. Serves as a resource person in various areas of curriculum.
11. Provides counseling for individuals and small groups as the need arises and time permits.
Provides mandated counseling to designated Special Education students.
12. Maintains appropriate records and reports of contacts with pupils, parents, school conferences,
agency contacts, etc.
13. Supervises the use and confidentiality of records for the protection of the individuals
involved.
14. Attends meetings as required (i.e., faculty meetings, Committee on Special Education, etc.).
Presents evaluation reports to the Committee on Special Education and represents parents or
students when appropriate.
15. Serves on established committees either on a voluntary basis or assignment.
16. Submits annual budget requests to the Supervisor of Special Education.
17. Conducts and records an annual inventory of equipment and supplies.
18. Supervises interns or volunteers by mutual consent with the Supervise of Special Education.
19. Facilitates building RTI process.
20. Strives to keep informed of the current educational trends and practices through journals,
books, workshops and conferences.
