Job Description
Job Location: NY or any other unanticipated worksites/locations throughout the US
1. Lead the Cost Management team on specific client commissions, making sure that the team delivers on all accountabilities.
2. Take a lead role in interfacing with the client, stakeholders, and other consultants, at all project stages.
3. Identify opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates and products.
4. Ensure that key information and learning generated from each commission inputted into internal databases and shared.
5. Process improvement – Identify and act upon ways to improve internal systems and processes.
6. Lead proposals for new work or variations for existing projects.
7. Attend relevant networking events and other promotional opportunities.
8. Staff management – Input into the formal management of staff and recruitment interviews.
9. Undertake Staff Performance reviews.
10. Financial management – Utilize the tools provided keep track of the ongoing margin levels and monthly fee/resource forecasts for each commission.
11. Lead the development of cost estimates in consultation with the design services team and general contractor using the CostX software.
12. Quality Control – Ensure compliance with quality standards and participation in ISO audits.
13. Participate effectively with post contract cost variances and the change control processes.
14. Manage Cost impact / contingency management and commitment tracking logs.
15. Prepare written comments to the general contractor’s submissions, including the executive summary.
RELATED OCCUPATION:
Senior/Cost Manager or any other job title performing the following job duties:
1. Interfacing with the client, stakeholders, and other consultants, at all project stages.
2. Managing all Contract Administration tasks to ensure compliance with RICS standards and support efficient project execution.
3. Preparing and presenting monthly cost reports to the client while efficiently utilizing the client's web-based construction project management software system - PMWeb.
4. Dealing with post contract cost variances and the change control process.
5. Providing recommendations for interim payment applications, ensuring accuracy and adherence to Contract terms.
6. Preparing, negotiating, and finalizing financial accounts for projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance with Contractual terms, and timely resolution.
7. Facilitating commercial meetings and closeout discussions with the stakeholders to resolve outstanding issues and ensure project closure.
8. Leading Risk Review workshops with the client and engineer to identify potential project risks and mitigation strategies.
9. Creating cost plans and cost estimates using the CostX estimating tool, leveraging data from CAD drawings including BIM 2D and 3D models.
10. Making cost checks and carrying out valuations on larger projects and in all cases ensuring that timely and accurate cost checking and valuation takes place.
11. Identifying opportunities to improve cost management procedures and templates.
12. Leading a cost management team, ensuring that they deliver on all of the above accountabilities.
JOB TIME: Full Time
SALARY RANGE: $191,000/year - $200,000/year
Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying & Construction Management and 7 years of experience in job offered or 7 years of experience in the Related Occupation.
