Tooling Coordinator

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Tooling Coordinator to manage tooling requirements, ensure timely procurement, and support continuous improvement in tooling cost and performance. This role is critical in maintaining operational efficiency by ensuring the right tooling is available when needed, while driving cost savings and adhering to budget targets.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Ensure on-time delivery of all required tooling to support manufacturing operations.

+ Maintain compliance with tooling budgets and track spending against targets.

+ Drive cost savings initiatives through supplier negotiations and process improvements.

+ Create purchase orders (POs) and manage the quoting process for new and replacement tooling.

+ Analyze operational data to support decision-making and forecast tooling needs.

+ Review tool inventory levels and initiate replenishment based on reorder points and production schedules.

+ Confirm tool activity, order status in QAD, and inventory on-hand.

+ Collaborate with the Bench team to plan weekly tooling releases.

+ Maintain and update tooling “checkbook” (budget tracking system).

+ Pull technical drawings as needed for tooling quotes.

+ Manage tool classification and procurement (A/B/C tools).

+ Work with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice discrepancies.

+ Maintain and oversee Tool Tower operations.

+ Maintain and add daily production data entry into AS400 and necessary reports.

+ Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Required:

+ Minimum of 2 years in a purchasing, procurement, or supply chain role.

+ Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, etc.).

+ Experience managing budgets and prioritizing purchasing needs.

+ Proven ability to build and maintain supplier relationships.

+ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

+ Effective interpersonal and communication abilities.

+ Ability to perform well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.

+ High School Diploma, GED, or relevant work experience.

+ Fluent in English (verbal and written).

Preferred:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.

+ Experience working with Min/Max inventory systems.

+ Familiarity with cold forming processes and equipment (heading, stamping, threading).
