Title: STEP Staff Assistant Director for Science Technology Entry Program
Unit: Academic Affairs
Salary: $67,000 annual This is a full-time grant-funded position; 5-year term (or whenever funding ceases).

This grant provides support to prepare young scholars to step into higher education and STEM fields.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Assistant Director will coordinate all activities to successfully meet the grant goals, including:
+ Liaison between the NYS Education Department, STEP program, SUNY ESF, faculty and staff, Syracuse City School District and community partners.
+ Responsible for all operations, budgets, program development, evaluation, and supervision.
+ Hire and supervise STEP team members.
+ Leads STEP team management, including the advisory board.
+ Oversee and lead middle and secondary student recruitment and retention efforts.
+ Ensures programming achieves grant project outcomes by organizing and implementing program activities.
+ Prepare and submit reports for NYSED Compliance and internal ESF partners.
+ Maintain accurate budget records and student files for reporting purposes;
+ one-on-one meetings with students to assist with short and long-range educational goals.
+ Provide academic and professional counseling including assistance with college application process for upper-level students
+ Identify students who require additional academic support services.
+ Foster and maintain relationships with high school teachers, guidance counselors, district administrators, business, industry and community partners.
+ Coordinate seminars and programming at ESF that contribute to advancing students' growth.
+ Perform other duties related to the job description as needed
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
+ Master's in education or related field
+ At least one (1) year experience in program administration/management or grant administration, and financial management
+ Ability to work with diverse student groups
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master of Science in STEM fields or specifically Environmental Science
