ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN – CORPORATE OFFICE (AUSTIN, MN)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Performs basic engineering calculations and analyses.
+ Develops equipment and process designs of basic to moderate complexity.
+ Uses 2D and 3D CAD software to prepare engineering drawings and plant layouts.
+ Directs field installation and commissioning of equipment from the process startup to a satisfactory completion.
+ Leads or supports all aspects of food processing equipment specification, procurement, installation, and validation.
+ Works closely with plant personnel to provide support to the plant engineering teams for corporate engineering driven programs. Examples include Thermal Processing Audits and Materials Handling Replacement programs.
+ Many duties of this position require the incumbent to be on site at various locations, requiring overnight travel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
+ Successful completion of two years formal education beyond high school in a drafting/design program, engineering course work; or four years of applicable job experience.
+ Solid working knowledge of CAD (Computer-Aided Design Systems) is essential.
+ Demonstrated use of organizational skills and ability to prioritize work.
+ Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.
+ Ability to apply sound judgement and make appropriate decisions with minimal supervision.
+ Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to work within a team oriented environment.
+ Ability to travel overnight approximately 25% of the time.
Preferred
+ AutoCad® and Solidworks® software knowledge.
+ Two years of experience in drafting and engineering work.
+ General knowledge of machine design, controls, and plant electrical systems.
+ Experience with specifying, procuring, and commissioning manufacturing equipment.
+ Experience with Hormel Foods equipment specifications, plant equipment installation requirements, and thermal processing equipment.

At Hormel Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base hiring pay range for this role is between $31.50-$44.00 per hour, and your actual base pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
