Overview

The Design Technician 3 is responsible for assisting experienced designers and project teams in preparing and coordinating project deliverables and assisting less experienced designers as required.

Responsibilities

+ Prepares project drawings.

+ Uses CAD / BIM skills.

+ Coordinates with document control personnel.

+ Uses the electrical engineering web site to access department guides and standards.

+ Utilizes Engineering Document Management System (EDMS) to access all project documents.

Qualifications

+ 6+ years experience

Formal Education:

+ High School Diploma

This position requires:

+ Hands-on or classes using design/drafting tools, such as CAD / BIM.

+ Extensive knowledge of CAD / BIM software.

+ Familiar with electrical discipline web site and knows how to find department guides and standards.

+ Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

+ Effectively operates computer software, including MS Office Suite of products (i.e., databases, spreadsheets, project management software, Outlook, etc.) to prepare reports and correspondence.

+ Skilled in, MS SharePoint, AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Acrobat, AcroPlot Pro and EDMS.

Abilities:

+ Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.

+ Sitting for extended periods of time.

+ Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.

+ Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.

+ Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

+ Communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.

+ Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.

+ Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

+ Identify and understand the speech of another person.
