Software Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain a robust software solution for sizing utility-scale battery energy storage systems. You will be responsible for transitioning our existing Excel-based sizing tool to a dedicated software environment, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in our calculations.
Responsibilities
+ Organize and manage the battery performance database to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
+ Improve existing formulas and mathematical models used in Excel for sizing calculations.
+ Transition the existing Excel-based sizing tool to a dedicated software environment.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as battery engineering, construction, estimation, supply chain, data analytics, and operations to gather requirements, develop features, and ensure seamless integration of the software.
+ Conduct thorough testing and validation of the software to ensure reliability and accuracy of calculations.
+ Provide training and support to users on how to input data and utilize the software efficiently.
+ Create comprehensive documentation for the software, including user guides and technical manuals.
+ Work closely with BESS and Inverter Technology Managers to incorporate the latest technical specifications and performance metrics into the software database and formulations.
+ Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to continuously update and optimize the database and formulations, ensuring the calculator becomes more accurate and comprehensive.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
+ Proven experience in software development, with a focus on designing and building complex applications.
+ Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, and/or C++.
+ Proficiency in using and transitioning formulas from Excel to a software environment.
+ Experience with database management and data organization.
+ Knowledge of battery energy storage systems and their performance characteristics.
Skills & Qualifications
+ Battery Energy Storage and Utility experience.
+ Experience in utility-scale battery energy storage projects.
+ Familiarity with energy modeling software and tools.
+ Understanding of power systems and grid integration of energy storage.
+ Knowledge of web development frameworks and technologies.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.
