Business Development Director – Battery Solutions (On-site or Remote)
Ultralife’s Battery & Energy business is seeking an experienced Business Development professional to lead and grow opportunities across key markets including , Medical , Subsea, Oil & Gas, IoT, Military and Industrial applications. This role is responsible for identifying, developing, and closing high-value opportunities for battery packs, cells, chargers, and integrated energy solutions—serving as a key driver of our strategic growth.
This is a highly consultative sales role. Success requires deep engagement with customer teams across engineering, materials, and procurement to collaboratively develop and tailor solutions for non-commodity, custom battery applications. Ideal candidates will bring prior battery industry experience, a strong technical foundation, and a proven ability to navigate complex buying processes and win new business.
Primary Responsibilities
• Originate, develop, and close new opportunities across new and existing accounts
• Drive new customer acquisition and strategic growth in key markets:
- Medical Devices
- Subsea Vehicles & Infrastructure
- Oil & Gas / MWD Electronics
- Military Electronics
- IoT and Industrial Applications
• Engage with multiple stakeholders—including engineering, operations, and sourcing—to shape solutions aligned with custom product needs
• Act as a consultative partner by understanding technical requirements and proposing tailored battery solutions using Ultralife’s broad portfolio of cells, packs, and charging systems
• Maintain accurate opportunity tracking and forecasting in CRM
• Lead contract negotiation and facilitate smooth handoffs to internal teams for fulfillment
• Collaborate internally across technical and program management teams to ensure alignment and customer satisfaction
Qualifications
• Prior experience in the battery industry is required, with strong familiarity across cell chemistries, pack configurations, and application requirements
• Proven experience in consultative technical sales, preferably in custom or engineered-to-order products
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across technical and commercial teams
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a remote environment
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with both technical and executive stakeholders
• Willingness to travel as required to meet with customers and support key initiatives
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field or equivalent experience in the battery or energy storage industry
