This position is currently working 3 days / week on-site and up to 2 days / week remotely on a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off out of our Sterling Heights, MI office.
BAE Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to support our Combat Mission Systems business as a team lead for AMPV Mission Equipment Packages (MEP).
In this role you will be responsible as the Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead of the MEP team. This includes coordinating personnel who oversee the unique equipment in each variant. The three sub teams that you would be coordinating are Medical Equipment team, Mortar and General Purpose team and Mission Command team. As the IPT Lead, you will be responsible for managing multiple work directives and maintaining Control Account Manager (CAM) responsibilities, ensuring the successful delivery of AMPV Mission Equipment Package work directives. You will support the program engineering manager (PEM) with primary responsibility for management of cost, schedule, and performance of the work directives.
Key responsibilities include:
Executing and managing multiple work directives to ensure on-time delivery and meet customer requirements
Developing and maintaining project planning documents, such as project schedules and resource demand
Conducting risk management activities to identify and mitigate potential risks to the program
Monitoring work and expenditures to ensure schedule and budget are maintained, with a focus on achieving earned value targets
Supporting the analyses and allocation of systems requirements, and leading analysis of alternatives or trade studies
As a key member of the program team, you will also:
Interface with customers and stakeholders to ensure requirements are met and expectations are managed
Build confidence in designs through rigorous testing, analysis, and validation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design producibility, testability, and sustainability
Drive repeatable results through the implementation of process improvements and best practices
Ensure safety, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements are integrated into design and delivery
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate a strong understanding of earned value management principles and a proven track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. You will also need to be able to drive process improvements and implement changes that result in repeatable, high-quality outcomes.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field
+ Minimum 8 years of related experience to include project management, monitoring metrics and reporting, and managing and verifying system requirements
+ Project management experience in product development
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills
+ Ability to initiate, prioritize, and coordinate tasks with multiple team members
+ Experienced in trade studies
+ Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Engineering degree preferred
+ Working knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering
+ Experience with PM Compass, DOORS, or Earned Value Management Systems
+ Experience within the defense industry
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $130355 - $221603

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
