    Reports To: Machine Shop Supervisor

    Job Summary:

    Tampa Brass and Aluminum Corporation (TBAC) is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist for our second shift to operate, set up, and troubleshoot CNC machines for precision parts manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have experience working with SolidWorks for interpreting 3D models and Esprit CAM software for programming toolpaths. This role requires strong attention to detail, commitment to quality, and a solid understanding of machining practices in a fast-paced, high-precision environment.

     

    Manual Machinist (with CNC Experience) - Mill/Lathe

    Position Overview

    Tampa Brass & Aluminum is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist with some CNC experience to join our precision manufacturing team. This position supports our production of high-quality brass and aluminum components for defense, aerospace, and energy sector clients. The ideal candidate will have strong manual machining skills with basic CNC knowledge and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Machining Operations

    • Set up and operate manual mills, lathes, and other conventional machine tools

    • Perform routine production machining on brass, aluminum, and other materials

    • Execute basic CNC operations under supervision

    • Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for various materials

    • Maintain consistent quality standards and tolerances

    Quality & Documentation

    • Read and interpret engineering blueprints and technical drawings

    • Use precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, and other inspection tools

    • Perform in-process quality checks and maintain production records

    • Follow established process plans and work instructions

    • Identify and report quality issues or process improvements

    General Responsibilities

    • Maintain clean and organized work area

    • Follow all safety protocols and procedures

    • Perform routine machine maintenance and housekeeping

    • Collaborate with team members and supervisors

    • Support continuous improvement initiatives

    Required Qualifications

    Experience & Skills

    • Minimum 2 years manual mill and lathe experience (required)

    • Minimum 2 years blueprint reading experience (required)

    • Basic CNC experience preferred

    • Proficiency with standard measuring tools and inspection equipment

    • Understanding of machining fundamentals and metal cutting principles

    Personal Requirements

    • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening

    • Strong attention to detail and quality focus

    • Good communication and teamwork skills

    • Reliable attendance and punctuality

    • Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods

     

    Work Schedule & Compensation

     

    Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Pay Range: $20.00 - $28.00/hour based on experience and skills assessment Performance Reviews: Regular performance-based increases available

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Set up, operate, and maintain CNC lathes and mills to produce precision components.

    + Interpret blueprints, 3D models (SolidWorks), and technical drawings to understand part specifications.

    + Create and modify CNC programs using Esprit CAM software.

    + Ensure parts are machined to tight tolerances and quality standards.

    + Perform routine inspections using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools.

    + Troubleshoot and correct machining issues to minimize downtime.

    + Work collaboratively with the engineering and quality departments to improve processes.

    + Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

    + Follow all safety protocols and company procedures.

    Qualifications:

    + High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate or degree preferred.

    + Minimum 3+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment.

    + Proficiency with SolidWorks for model interpretation.

    + Hands-on experience programming with Esprit (or similar CAM software).

    + Strong knowledge of G-code, speeds, feeds, and tooling.

    + Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T.

    + Willingness to work second shift (typically 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM, Monday–Friday).

    + Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.

    Preferred Skills:

    + Experience with multi-axis machines or Swiss-style turning

    + Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles

    + Previous experience in aerospace, defense, or high-precision industries
