POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The distribution supervisor is to help manage the department in an efficient manner while adhering to all company, Federal Department of Transportation guidelines to ensure the safe and timely distribution of dairy products to our customers. Communication with all departments and aspects of the operation, taking into consideration all pertinent policies and regulations, while managing the work force employees to achieve maximum efficiency of the department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

_The following are fundamental duties that an individual who holds the position must perform. This is not an exhaustive list. Other duties, in addition to essential job functions, will be assigned at the discretion of the Fleet/ Distribution Manager._

+ Manages daily activities of department resources to ensure accurate and on-time deliveries. This includes warehouse inventories, loading schedules, adds and shortages on trailers, departure schedules and transportation routes.

+ Train and coach employees to achieve required results with regard to safety, quality, productivity and attendance. Work closely with the Fleet Safety Manager to achieve improved driver proficiency and expertise.

+ Help Ensure that loads are loaded and delivered as scheduled.

+ Assist customer service with the dispatching of call-in shipments to the correct route drivers.

+ Communicate with wholesale transports on the following: sanitation, manifests, proper load set up, shortages, complaints, checking, hand held computers, end of day paper work and invoices.

+ Communicate with employees to facilitate company policy and ensure safe and timely deliveries to our customers.

+ Actively promote customer service with all employees and personally adhere to those principles.

+ Comply with company policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS:

_To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required._

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

+ Valid CDL-A license is preferred- may be required in the future to successfully attain.

+ Self-motivated with ability to prioritize job duties and meet deadlines.

+ Problem solving experience using process improving techniques and policy compliance.

+ Excellent interpersonal skills.

+ Commitment to quality workmanship, cleanliness of products, facility and employee well-being.

+ Detail oriented with strong organizational skills, and ability to delegate responsibilities.

+ Ability to perform simple mathematical computations.

+ Ability to persuade and teach others.

+ Ability to resolve people-related problems and be courteous in difficult situations.

+ Able to use equipment normal to job functions, including hand held computer.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

+ High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in transportation, business, and equivalent work experience is preferred but the company will give consideration to job related experience.

+ 2 years previous supervisory experience in transportation and logistics operations preferred.

+ The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of supervisor leadership skills.

PREREQUISITES:

+ Successful completion of a pre-employment physical, drug screen, physical aptitude test and background check with an acceptance of a conditional employment offer.

+ As our drivers utilize multiple shifts, some flexibility in your schedule may be required on occasion.
