    The Sisterhood Initiative (SI) at the University of Washington provides holistic support to undergraduate students, with a particular focus on students who identify as women of color, empowering them to show up authentically in all aspects of their academic, professional, and personal lives. This opportunity is open to all qualified individuals, and the SI is committed to creating an inclusive environment for everyone. Housed in the College of Education and building on the success of the Brotherhood Initiative, the SI works collaboratively with campus partners and is guided by a dedicated steering committee. The SI's strength lies in its cohort model. Each member self-selects to intentionally support and be supported by the other students and SI staff.

    The primary goals are to:

    + Increase enrollment, retention, and graduation rates for students from underserved backgrounds, with a particular focus on addressing disparities faced by women of color at UW through a holistic cohort model.

    + Contribute to the understanding of the experiences of students from underserved backgrounds, with a particular focus on the experiences of women of color undergraduates at predominantly white institutions.

    + Actively engage students in projects/activities that enhance the experience of future undergraduate students.The SI is committed to ensuring equal opportunity in all its programs and activities, and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, age, marital status, disability, veteran status, or any other protected status. Reporting to the Director, the Sisterhood Initiative Student Services Specialist will provide direct support to SI students and manage programmatic and academic support components. They will foster collaborative relationships with campus partners, manage programming and events, and support student recruitment and selection. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** The Sisterhood Student Success Coordinator will contribute to the Sisterhood Initiative through the following major responsibilities:Academic Support and Student Development:

    + Serve as an academic support specialist and advocate for SI students in their Sophomore thru Senior years.

    + Work with advisors and instructors to ensure students are on track and provide additional support.

    + Provide referrals to campus and community resources.

    + Advise and prepare students for experiential learning, internships, service learning, study abroad, and other opportunities.

    + Establish and maintain partnerships with campus offices to facilitate collaborative student support.

    + Promote campus and community events and resources of interest.Management of SI Programming:

    + Manage two half time undergraduate student Program Assistants

    + Manage the daily operations of the SI in coordination with the Director.

    + Manage pro-card and program purchases.

    + Manage event planning and coordination for SI events.

    + Develop communications to disseminate program information, build partnerships, and enhance opportunities for SI students.

    + Establish and maintain outreach and communication efforts, including the weekly newsletter, program website and social media.

    + Represent SI to external organizations and constituents as requested.Community Liaison & Partnership Development

    + Build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of community partners to develop internships and career mentorship opportunities.

    + Coordinate and implement networking and professional development events.

    + Track and communicate with SI alumni.Cohort Recruitment & Orientation:

    + Collaborate with SI staff and campus partners to participate in recruitment activities.

    + Advise and counsel prospective students.

    + Proactively develop and execute outreach channels.

    + Manage the application review and interview process.

    + Develop content and coordinate SI Freshman orientation **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**

    + Bachelor’s Degree in education or a related field and 2-3 years of experience in education and/or program administration. **Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such aslicense/certification/registration.** **ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**

    + Demonstrated awareness and understanding of issues experienced by underserved populations.

    + Direct experience working with students in an educational setting.

    + Excellent communication skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment. **DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**

    + Master’s Degree in education or a related field. Knowledge of educational equity, intersectionality, identity development, and college persistence.

    + Prior experience in advising, programming and/or recruitment with ethnically diverse, low-income, and/or first-generation college student populations.

    + Demonstrated experience building relationships with community partners.
