    The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology has an outstanding opportunity for a **Anatomic Pathology Technician** **WORK SCHEDULE**

     

    + 40 hours per week

    + Monday-Friday, 11:30am-8:00pm **WHAT WE OFFER**

    + Certified, or certified within two years from the date of hire, at the Technician level by a nationally recognized certifying agency such as the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Scientists or the Microscopy Society of America.Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration. **PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**

    + The Anatomic Pathology Technician is responsible for specimen processing tasks, which include tissue grossing, frozen section techniques, specimen data entry, specimen tracking, and assisting pathologists.

    + Labels and verifies microscopic slides, transports specimens within the hospital—such as to the OR—and monitoring specimen processing.

    + Performs specimen quality control, resolves laboratory issues, and addresses procedural questions.

    + Assists with the review and update of laboratory procedure manuals, manages supply inventories, organizes incoming supplies, performs instrument maintenance, troubleshoots instrument malfunctions, notifyies manager, and implements corrective actions.

    + Maintains quality control for instruments and temperature logs, cleans laboratory spaces, filing, disposing of tissue specimens, assisting with gross digital photography, and maintaining the frozen section area, including cryostat cleaning and replacement of staining solutions.

    + Independently manages reagent and material usage, orders supplies, and maintains daily, weekly, and monthly logs, including performing preventative maintenance on instruments following established protocols.
